Hey I was noticing how controlled he is when he hits the cymbal (not sure if it has a special name, but the one he's hitting with his right hand). Not something I really thought about before- is that really hard? Like- do you have to keep your hand in a certain place?
I haven't tried this technique yet, but I bet it's not too hard with a little practice. He's actually hitting the cymbal with two parts of the stick, the shoulder and the neck. (I think that's what the parts are called.) The shoulder is further down on the stick and thicker. And the neck is up towards the tip and thinner. He alternates hitting between the two. Harder (louder) on the shoulder and softer (quieter) on the neck, back and forth. It adds "texture" :) to the beat, instead of the same monotonous sound.

once he moved to the "real" parts of the song, my legs somehow ended up in a lotus position....
