(no subject)
Just look at that sponge cake! People always tell me that sponges are hard to make...but I don't seem to have a problem making them. I think it might have something to do with coming from the land of pavlovas, which has to be one of the most difficult things to make (but ooh it tastes so good). I thought this was going to turn into one actually xD (they made quite similarily). The reason it came out look like a pinwheel is because I lined the whole tin, not just the bottom, so it created those little 'dents'. xD I think it gives the sponge character! ;) Of course the icing hides it xD
Strawberries covered in sugar and salt...(just a little salt, don't look at me like that!). Mmm. Strawberries. These were defrosted versions (not fully defrosted, I found them much easier to cut if they were still partly frozen (the ones that had fully defrosted were all...mushy)).
This is the inside layer. I don't think I whipped the cream for long enough, because it's way too runny. The recipe said soft peaks, not stiff ones! Next time I'll make stiff peaks XD
Sponge covered in syrup. Om nom. And a couple of strawberries for good measure!
The finished product, after freezing and trying desperately to get the icing to look...like icing. Failure! But no matter. The strawberries are all mushy (frozen strawberries >_>;) and the syrup was so hard to drain from them, so it's all messy...
But I does not care! :D it looks good! (if I do say so myself xDD)

OM NOM! soon, it will be consumed... (by then I'll have uploaded pictures of what the inside looks like...I'm scared to look! ;_;)

Hmm. It takes, ok. It doesn't taste how I imagine it would XD Damn anime making everything look so delicious >_>;
BUT. I think the problem is with the strawberries. I always find that frozen versions of berries are much stronger than ones that aren't (something to do with the juices I guess). So I'll try making it again in the summer with fresh strawberries and see if it tastes any different ^^; Otherwise, it was good. Just a bit overpowering with the strawberries. The rest is sitting in the fridge, so we'll see if the juices soak into the sponge better and taste better tomorrow XD
But yes. Otherwise, om nom. :D And the inside wasn't scary XD
