Taemin is a 17 year old.
It’s hard to believe sometimes.
Onew can’t believe Taemin is 17 when the teenager yet again brings back piles of homework, worksheets on math problems he swears he only learnt after high school.
As soon as Key makes Taemin do his homework, Onew will trot into Taemin’s room soon after. 10 minutes later Onew and Taemin will be engaged in a almost never ending conversation or lecture on this calculus theory which started because of a simple sum, but differing opinions, to the extent that Onew is quite sure no other 17 year old could possibly argue with him like that.
“You know what Key, I think Taemin is secretly a university student.”
Key can’t believe it when Taemin gets all pouty and cute asking him to cook pancakes for breakfast for the 13th time, consecutively for that almost 2 weeks. So much that Jonghyun, Onew and Minho decided to order breakfast in every morning.
It’s not that Key likes pancakes too, in fact after the 3rd day he secretly shoved his share down the trash once Taemin wasn’t looking, but when Taemin juts out his lower lip, gets all wide-eyed and puffs out his cheeks the way no other 17 year old could possibly pull off, Key just gives in.
Jonghyun can’t believe it when he sees Taemin smiling brightly to the fans, and chuckling when he receives a height chart, Taemin ranked 2nd and Jonghyun at the bottom. He swears that his growth spurt did not make him a giant when he was 17. All long and bendy and stuff.
“Pffft. Being short is awesome.” He retorts when Taemin shows him the chart.
“Anything you say hyung~” Taemin says in a sing-song voice, being all too sarcastic, with a tint of mischief in his eyes, as he makes a big show in peering down to look at Jonghyun.
Minho doesn’t believe it when Taemin trots into his room all sweaty after dance rehearsal wearing his shirt, and Minho just cannot resist and starts pinning him to a wall and kissing him like there no tomorrow, and Taemin kisses him back with just that amount of ferocity. Then soon they are locking the door and taking their clothes off and Minho pushes him on his bed, feeling oh-so-sure that Taemin isn’t 17 because the world would scream at them saying: hey, what would 17 year olds know about love.

Onew believes it when Taemin comes to him with a trigonometry question with his face full of question marks, listening intently while he explains to him the solution.
Key believes it when Taemin tells him he has lost his mp3 player again for the 100th time, and scolds him for being irresponsible, but secretly buys him a new one because he has been through that period in life.
Jonghyun believes it when Taemin comes to him for advice about dating claiming its for his own knowledge as he hasn’t dated before and Jonghyun rolls his eyes but generously writes him a long list of Minho’s habits and tells Taemin to remember them all.
Minho believes it when Taemin shyly holds his hand and cutely smiles when he brings Taemin out for his birthday, or when Taemin pouts and Minho’s inner-fan girl goes high.
Taemin is a 17 year old.
And he believes it, when he has wake up before the rest to go to school. Or when he wakes up in the middle of the night and sees the rest talking seriously in the kitchen, but when he steps in Key turns tells him to go back to sleep.
But Taemin is 17 years old.
And he loves it. Because he has the most noona fans, his member-hyungs dote on him, all the other idol-hyungs and noonas love him and he realizes that as much as he tries, he is still 17, and he should enjoy his teenage years before its too late and he starts to regret.
