The Ballad of the Invisible Boy: MASTER POST.

Oct 24, 2013 22:58

Title: The Ballad of the Invisible Boy
Pairing: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester (eventual/pre-slash)
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 57,551
Disclaimer: Tragically untrue.
Summary: This is a story of adolescence. This is a love letter for the slow burn, for Led Zeppelin, for the 90s. This is the first of three sets of stories about how Sam and Dean didn’t fall in love. They never had to. It was always there, this desperation between them, like a real, breathing thing. When they came together, it was inevitable. as sure as continents colliding, as the phases of the moon and the life and death of stars. This isn’t a love story, but it’s a story of love.
Warnings: Graphic heterosexual sex. Underage sex. Mentions of childhood sexual molestation of a minor character. Depictions of a school shooting. Overabundance of 90s pop culture references. Breathless adoration of Nirvana. Unabashed Led Zeppelin love. Incestuous overtones, CLEARLY.
Notes: If underage incest isn’t your thing, have no fear. This is the story of the journey of Sam and Dean. This is all basically pre-slash, at this point. BUT the heart of this story is how they came to realize their all-consuming, incomparable love for each other. A lot of Wincest-by-proxy, a fuckton of unresolved sexual tension. Like. A. Lot. I wanted to write their entire lives together, leading up to the show. But what I’ve done instead is write snapshots of moments, key moments, over their adolescence that define their relationship and its sexual inevitability.
Thanks: I want to first and foremost thank my beta, editor, brain sorter-outer and head cheerleader, ibythetide. She’s been my sounding board for this story from day one, and I could not have done a tenth of it without her. So, THANK YOU, Nikki. Even though you’re not a Supernatural fan, you’ve dealt with my shit. I appreciate it so much. <3

And I OF COURSE need to thank my insanely talented and wonderful and sweet artist scarletscarlet. She just GOT IT. Immediately, I think. She understood the message of my story, got the mood, all of it. She is so breathtakingly talented and I've honestly been shaking ever since I found out that she was going to be bringing my work to life. GOD. It was so great working with somebody of my/Sam/Dean’s generation who loves the nineties as much as I do. I am so grateful for your time and talents and efforts and it was wonderful working with you, darling. <3333

And the amazing mods over at samdean_otp for organizing all of this and putting so much time into it all. Thanks so much!
