And there is not going to be any fighting in this journal.

Sadly, crap like this is all too common in American airports. A regular cluster-fuck.

Here's a little tightass who should be fired -

"I'm in charge in here. Do you know who you are? Do you know where you are? This isn't a hotel," he screamed.

Where the fuck do they get these people? Mental hospitals?

You said no fighting, so I won't say what is in my head.

But thanks.

Then allow me to say this instead... melusina99 June 6 2004, 14:57:18 UTC
As documented by Reporters Without Borders and by the American Society of Newspaper Editors (Asne) in letters to Colin Powell and Tom Ridge, cases such as mine are part of a systemic policy of harassing media representatives from 27 friendly countries whose citizens - not journalists! - can travel to the US without a visa, for 90 days.

Ordinary citizens can travel with no visa. NO FUCKING VISA. For up to 90 days. Journalists are treated like a deadly criminal menace? And whose bright ass idea was that? Oh, I remember, it must have been a crowd of angry journalists who hijacked the planes and flew them into the...no, wait, it wasn't. Well, then, this must just be BULLSHIT, huh? I mean, what harm could the press do...except tell the emperor, "dude, what happened to your pants? I see your ass."

I have heard the word, and the word is PARANOIA.

And to reply to your above point with Holls up there ^ there are curious links between power and behaviour, as demonstrated by Zimbardo (1969, plus various repeats and simulations) that show that people placed "arbitratily" in positions of power over others can develop extreme behaviours remarkably quickly. This could have something to inform other things that have been in the UK and US Press recently to do with the treatment of prisoners in Iraq. I'm just posting this as a piece of information. I wondered if this had been taken into account while everyone was shouting about it. Actually, that's an interesting line of thought, I just thought of it while I was writing.

ooh, maybe my brain *does* work!!

And as previously discussed, I will not do fighting. However, if you do want to know what I think, you know where I am!!

Jesus. I almost wished I hadn't read that.

All of my foreign friends have told me their horror stories, but nothing like that. A lot of my foreign friends have slowed down their visits to the U.S. or stopped coming all together. Several of my friends who live here have moved back, permanently.

Sigh.

Airports suck, I don't fly if there is any way to avoid it. They searched through every piece of my luggage the last time I flew--even opened the pots of make-up to see if I had plastique in my lip gloss.

Well, the best way to control the populance is to control the information they receive. >:)
