So... I volunteered for this thing at work called the mobile deployment force. It's a group of TSA workers who go flitting from airport to airport to fill staffing needs. Sometimes it's testing, sometimes it's training, and sometimes it's because a smaller airport needs additional staff to cover a peak tourist season that's so short it isn't

I've heard good things about the kindle, but the color nook is *sweet* (even it if is $250), a co-worker has one and likes it lots. He can go to any B&N and read any book they have there. (leaving will cause an attempt to "turn the page" to fail though).

I'd say have fun but I'll probably be a lot of "hurry up and wait"

Thanks - my eyes bugged a little when I read this, but at the same time, I am happy for you guys, and I hope it involves a little pay raise for you as well. I figure you're already living on wonky hours and still responsive to e-mails at least - nothing's changing in that end of things, no?

No worries about the assignment thing. I was thinking of asking you for Generic Blanks as it were, whenever you have the time to do one or two again.

We'll still miss you at events - although, since you say the position doesn't start until April, does this mean we'll at least see you at Mudthaw?

Yes, Mudthaw is still on the schedule. It may be the last event I get to for a year, but I'll be there. I'm going to try to get re-approved for Pennsic, but I have a different boss now, so I don't know. Unfortunately, EKWP is a no-go.

As for the raise, it doesn't come with one officially, but I won't be using my own gas, and I get offered a per diem meal allowance that I should have no trouble staying within. And I get to keep the change.....

Not to mention there'll be shitloads of Overtime.
