Miss Elizabeth Bennet wasn't certain why she felt the strange compulsion to bring store-bought pies with her, whenever she visited acquaintances in town. It felt like a properly neighborly thing to do, and one should never arrive at a housewarming empty-handed. Also, she had discovered a strange fondness for store-bought cherry pie.
She knocked on the door hesitantly, investigating the exterior of the house. Very nice. Not quite so stately as Netherfield, but more welcoming, certainly.
Linz was a little flustered at the knock at the door. The boiling water went well but then she realized she had no safe way of pouring it into a cup. Clearly she should be allowed into a kitchen as well.
"Thank you kindly for having me," she said, handing over the pie. "I didn't make this. I feel I should say that. It seems gauche, that I didn't, but my pies are barely edible, and I'm ashamed to admit how convenient the alternative is."
Linz flashed her a grin. "It's quite all right, I bought some turnovers and scones at this strange little bakery in town. The stuff they have here is better than anything I could ever make. Want the grand tour? It's mostly boxes that haven't been unpacked yet..."
