[Halted in his stride, he turns to look not at Allen's face, but at his hand where it's holding him. He frowns at it before belatedly looking up and meeting Allen's eyes. He's still frowning a bit, but perhaps not quite so deeply.]

[Of course, now he's got Kanda's attention Allen realises he has no idea what he actually wanted to say to him. He's fairly certain Kanda would view silence as much of a waste of his time as if Allen were to make some claim that he didn't have anything to say but he just didn't want Kanda to go like that.

For a second, Allen looks a little put-off: he looks like if he were to allow himself he'd slap a hand over his own mouth for that comment, but the look of surprise at himself fades after a moment as his expression moulds into something more firm, determined, something on the edge of angry.]

[Looking down at Allen's hand again as it tightens. He's still looking at it while he speaks.] Don't get all damn soppy on me.

I'm not! I just...wouldn't have expected it. [He also takes this opportunity to glance away.] And I don't doubt you had your reasons; you don't tend to do things impulsively or without being pragmatic.
