[She's here...somewhere, but she's not sure where. It's dark and with all the dust it's hard to breathe. She knew all about earthquakes thanks to living in San Fransisco, but she'd never been in the middle of one this bad.]
[...Let alone one this bad in the middle of New York City. But with the two universes in near collision, Fringe events such as these were getting more and more common. Lincoln had been woken up by this one. A 7 pointer right downtown. He'd been in the van surveying maps and then it had hit him. The address, it was familiar. And in a far away region of his brain he linked Janice's name to it. She was living right on the epicenter. The team had wanted to amber the site immediately. Lincoln had been given ten minutes to find out if anyone was left in the crumpling building.]
[At the sound of Janice's distant voice, Lincoln perks up. He removes his gas mask briefly.]
I'm here! Where are you? Make a noise if you can.
[He hacks into his arm. The dust is so thick. The building gives another tremor.]
[She isn't going to panic. She's been in worse situations. Though, at the moment, Jan can't really think of one, especially when the building shudders around her. Bad. Really bad. It's too hard to breathe so she grabs some bit of debris and starts banging it against the floor, making enough noise to be heard over the sounds of the building settling around them.]
[Lincoln pops his mask back on to shield from the dust and any leaking gas lines the building might be putting out. Everyone had still been scrambling to figure out the extent of the damage when he'd peeled off and headed inside. Even he didn't know what he was up against. At the sounds of the clanking, he's momentarily disoriented, but gets his bearings and starts slowly making his way toward the noise. He's in a hallway, he thinks.]
[When the earthquake started, she'd dove for cover and when everything stopped moving, she realized that she was trapped in the alcove that she'd hidden in. She was still too disorientated to know if she was hurt, but injured or not, she'd force herself to move if it meant getting out before another quake hit. She hit the floor twice, coughing as she tried to call out to him.]
Sorry for delay. LJ just barely decided to let me log in after a week of trying >>ffourscoreJuly 31 2011, 22:50:37 UTC
[He didn't respond, jut upped his pace as best he could. He was on the same floor as her, at least, and if his sense of direction was right he had another hallway to go. He picked his way carefully through the rubble, keeping close to what was still intact of one of the walls. He reached an impasse when he realized a large chunk of the floor above had collapsed in and was blocking his way.]
Damn it.
[A look around and the decision is a quick one. He slams his weight into the rickety cracked door of a nearby apartment and stumbles in. It's in shambles, but the wall connecting it to the next apartment over has been felled by a large china cabinet. Lincoln crunched his way through spackle and plates. The feeling of urgency in his gut was growing. Someone was shouting into his earphone but he wasn't paying much attention. He had to be close.]
