Alex stares at her.

[embre_flame]

Embre is pacing and making what might pass as adorable whining noises as she tries to change.

"There is magic here. I know there is magic here. Why can I not change?"

Alex is torn between smiling and looking confused. "I do not know, I have not tried to change back in a long while."

"TRY!" She insists, frantically tugging at his arm as she does. "Can you change?"

Alex takes a deep breath and tries....then tries again....and again.

"I cannot."

[embre_flame]

Well, at least it's not just her.

"This does not make sense."

Alex shakes his head. "No it does not," he says, "changing should be like breathing."

She's momentarily annoyed at how casually he talks about he ease of the change. It never is for her. "If it is that easy then why am I still like this?"

"I don't know," Alex says, "I haven't been a fox since.....that night in the snow."

Embre blushes like mad remembering that night. "I am sorry." She says for about the eight millionth time. "It was cold and you were teasing me and..." She trails off, blushing even more.

"What else happened that night other than..." and even more blushing. She's really, really, really not used to this whole adult human relationship thing.

"I'm not sorry," Alex says, "and nothing else happened as far as I know...just that."

" That..." Embre's still blushing, but manages to look at him. "Why would that change how we can...?" Then suddenly her eyes go wide. She's not stupid about the proverbial birds and bees, but she sort of forgot."Oh...no."

It takes Alex a moment or two to catch up and when he does it's clear he isn't sure how he should be feeling right now. "Oh....."

How about absolutely terrified, because that's what she's feeling.

"We..." She's pacing, and if she had a tail it would be twitching and flaring like crazy. "But if I'm..." Embre looks down at her stomach, then back up at Alex with panic in her eyes. "We will be caught if I am..." She can't even say it. Why the hell didn't they make an internet porn that detailed the CONSEQUENCES of sex, huh?!?

"We could hide," Alex says, "until.....it comes....they would not harm a child....not a guide things are not done like that."
