Sure you didn't mind?

It was a bit surprising, maybe.

Okay, so we'll put it in the maybe pile.

Alright.

So, how have you been?

Fighting the fight. You?

Er, fighting the bad one?

I've eaten three people so far today. But two of them deserved it and the other one was badly injured, so don't get mad.

Oh. Well, hey. If they deserved it...

[Her eyes had widened a little, but she wasn't mad. She reached over to cover his hand with hers.]

Not all fights are good. That's why I never say I fight the good fight. Big fat grey area and all.

They had beaten the other into a pulp, almost literally.

The blood tasted so sweet I can't even describe it. So much wonderful screaming . . .

That's okay, you really don't have to.

Wait, wait... you ate the victim?

It was too late for a doctor to do more than make the pain last longer. Broken legs, broken arms, dislocated spine and jaw, one eye out.

I know all about pain and injury. When someone has their legs on backwards and an eye on their cheek their life might as well be over.

They were all drunk. The fight was probably over a drunken flirt or a football game. Stupid humans.

[She shudders, but more because of the description of the injuries. Not because of what he'd done.]

This is why I'm happier dealing with demons. Humans will never make sense to me. And yet, I have to protect them. Go figure.

They just... they make me sick. There's no actual reason for them to do what they do to each other.

I'd think you'd spend most of your time saving the monsters from the people. Humans hate anything different with a passion.

Depends on the monster. [It's an honest answer, and she can't bring herself to feel remorse over it.] Humans are just... I don't understand. I don't understand why guns are supposed to always be the answer, or how they can tie someone up and torture them. I don't understand why we just want to make each other miserable.
