The Doctor sat on a bench outside the bakery eagerly waiting to see what Rose had picked out. Cookies? Brownies? CUPCAKES?

Ohhhh, she knew him too well when she opened the small box to him. "Oh! Orange!" It was the brightest and instantly attracted him to it.

Unfortunately as the afternoon went on, the Doctor felt far more irritated than he had been earlier. "Roooose, let's go! Stop being so slow!" Normally that would've been said in a joking, nonchalaunt manner, but today, right now? He was a bit short.

Rose grinned at his initial reaction; that was definitely pride she looked at him with. She really did know him well, although she didn't think there was such a thing as too well.

For her part, she picked out the cupcake with the yellow frosting. If food could call one's name, this one had been calling hers since before she even left the bakery. She had been strong, though, and saved it until later in the afternoon. Only a few minutes before the Doctor decided to get short with her.

"You're bein' rude again, Doctor," she informed him. He was also whinging. So she told him. "You're also whinging. Everything alright?" He couldn't honestly be upset with her for taking five minutes to sit and eat her cupcake.

"I'm perfectly fine! Why would I be anything otherwise?" What a strange question to ask him! They were having a nice time, weren't they? Well, he was up until he was quite antsy and wanting to go further.

"I dunno...maybe 'cos you just snapped at me for daring to sit still long enough to eat my cupcake?" she suggested. They were having a brilliant time until very recently. The Doctor wasn't exactly a stranger to quickly changing moods, but usually if he was short with her, it was for a reason.

He just sort of "hmphed" at that statement and looked back in the cupcake box and pulled one out one with teal frosting and took a bite... Then started giggling that changed to laughing. "These cupcakes are lovely, Rose!"

He swiped some frosting on her nose, laughing.

Speaking of mood swings, there he went again. This one, though, pulled a chuckle and a grin from her as she shook her head. "Nutter! They're a bit alright, I s'pose," she agreed, reaching up to wipe the frosting from her nose with a finger. "If they make you this happy, I'll have to go back and grab another box before we leave." She nipped the teal frosting from her finger, swallowing it before smiling again and wiping any remaining sugary substance on the leg of her jeans.

And then hugged him because she suddenly couldn't think of anything she'd rather do. She also didn't appear to be inclined to stop hugging him any time soon.

"Oi, you're squishing me!" He grinned like a loon and wrapped his long arms around her, pressing his cheek to the top of her forehead. "This bakery was an excellent idea; I'm glad we came here." Despite him being impatient earlier.

She let out a bit of a scoff, though it came out rather mangled by the laugh that also bubbled up out of her. "Watch it, you, or I'm cuttin' you off." Her threat was completely ridiculous, of course. She'd be punishing herself for his cheek (and there's no way she could go without the hugs, either). "Or not, 'cos I just wouldn't." She didn't need to tell him that, now did she? What was with her brain-mouth filter today? "And yeah, 'm glad, too. Glad you suggested it and glad you're in a better mood."

"I'm always in a good mood!" For the most part, he left off.

Pulling himself from her and slipping his hand in hers, he nearly frolicked down the sidewalk with her. What enlightenment!

"That's not--" she was going to point out just how often they were facing off against someone or something with less-than-noble intentions, leading to neither of them being in particularly good moods. She broke off mid-sentence when he took her hand in his and started down the sidewalk, though, sufficiently swept up in his enthusiasm that it didn't need saying.

A bit more bounce in his step and she'd call it frolicking. As it was, she laced their fingers together like so and smiled over at him as they walked.
