[When one John Watson checks his mail today, there'll be a letter waiting for him, whose writing he may or may not recognize.

Dearest John,

I'm not very good at writing letters, but then again I would probably be even worse at this on the phone. And I'm too chicken to do it in person. I know that's my own fault and it won't look very good with everything else I'm about to say, but...it's the simple truth.

And speaking of the truth...well, I guess that's something we had trouble with, as a couple. Maybe we both loved our jobs a little bit more than each other, I don't know. But it's alright, really. I'm not mad anymore. I don't have a right to be. It was just as much my fault as anyone else's.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm writing this. I suppose I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. For everything. And that, if I'm going to put being truthful into habit, well...

I miss everything, Molly. [ He takes that moment to drink some of his coffee. ] I just...We didn't work out so well.

I know, and...I'm sorry. For all the fighting and the awful things I said...

But I...I miss it too, John. I miss everything about you. About being with you.

I think I'd do anything for a second chance.

No, but...you were still pretty good as far as boyfriends go... [She had been quite hurt by a comment he'd made once about her former feelings for Sherlock, and she'd shot back rude statements about how he was much closer to Sherlock than she had ever been. Things had escalated from there]

You were a good girlfriend too. [ He nods. John had tried to let fights burn out or die before they started. Sometimes though, you just can't let it lie. They both made mistakes though. ]

[It's a bit sad that John's the only one who's ever said that to her. John's been "the only one who ever _____" for her a lot. He's special. Far more special than he could ever realize, especially to her.

Her lips pressed tightly together like she may be holding back the urge to cry, she nods twice] Uh-huh. Absolutely yes.

[And, in the moment where many might go for the 'run-into-his-arms kiss', Molly takes a few slow steps towards him, sliding an arm around his middle and leaning in for a close hug. Not too close, though, because he's still got that coffee in one hand.]

His arms slides around her, careful of her and his coffee. ] Good.
