RNG for real gave me 3-1, let's do this.captoftardisFebruary 27 2012, 22:01:11 UTC
When Rose released him from the restraints and opened the door to what looked like a vacuum-sealed tube, the Doctor collapsed down to his knees. The force of the fall jolted him awake and he managed to bounce right back to his feet, rubbing at his wrists and glancing over to her.
"How long was I in there?" Without giving her much time to answer, he straightened his jacket and ran over to the control panel and began quickly typing and hacking through the files.
"I'm stealing every last bit of data they have... Don't think they need it much now that they let me escape." And what was he going to do with that information, exactly? Use it himself to destroy every last bit of this race and whatever else he felt inclined to do.
RNG wasn't messing around, I see. *rolls up sleeves*summinkothewolfFebruary 28 2012, 04:59:19 UTC
"Too long. I thought I'd lost you," she answered, turning so at least she was addressing his back and not the now-empty tube. He was already at the control panel, his fingers flying over the keys and Rose didn't know if he'd even heard her.
Scanning the vast room, eyes seeking out the nooks and crannies she'd passed on her way to rescue him, Rose was still very much on edge. If they were caught again, guns would likely be blazing and it would be the end of the line for her. She might not have a home to go back to anymore, but she was in no hurry to die, so she intended to stick close to the Doctor.
Not spying anything suspicious in her perusal, she moved to stand next to him, glancing down at the base of monitors in mild confusion. "Why do you need to steal it? We should go. We really should go. There's no tellin' how long we've got before they realize you're free an' I don't reckon we ought to still be here when they do."
"Why? Because they don't deserve to have this information. They locked me up trying t'use me as an experiment... They need to learn a lesson." Most certainly to learn who they were messing with.
Glancing over to her as he continued to hack into their computers, he paused, "What's that face for? You look upset." Why was she upset? He was completely justified in his actions. One must simply learn a lesson in messing with a Time Lord.
She was upset. She'd been worried before and she still was, though the exact reasons had altered slightly. "Maybe I am, yeah? Not 'cos-- if you wanna download a copy of their information or whatever, 's fine. They shouldn't have done what they did and if takin' this will stop them from trying something similar again, alright. I just think-"
Hearing a noise from somewhere to behind them, she turned and raised the blaster she'd stolen from one of the security blokes. Her heart was pounding in her chest, but thankfully, it was just one of the wires on the tube they'd kept him in. It had fallen to the floor. She let out the breath she didn't know she was holding and lowered her weapon again. "I just don't want them to catch you again and put you back in one of those things, or worse. We've only got the one weapon and they've got loads. The stuff you're stealing - how's it gonna teach them a lesson?"
I guess this is more vindictive!Doctor rather than evil!DoctorcaptoftardisFebruary 29 2012, 05:52:07 UTC
"They won't catch me." His voice was dark, yet he was very clear in his meaning as he continued taking what he was looking for.
After a few more pressing of buttons, the power shut off, surrounding them in darkness before the backup generator kicked on casting them in a dim light. "By stealing their stuff and reversing their codes... You don't capture me and think you can get away with it once I'm free. I'm a Time Lord, Rose. I can see all of time and space, and you don't just try and take that from me without retribution."
He was angry, very angry, and the desire to be vindictive prevailed.
Time Lord Victorious?summinkothewolfFebruary 29 2012, 06:45:57 UTC
"How can you be sure? What's that me...an." She gasped, staring at him in the dim light hoping to see something that would cast a different meaning to his words than the one she'd taken from them.
Rose shook her head, torn between running and trying to fix whatever it was he did. "Doctor, you-- You can't just-- What did you just do? I know you're angry an' I am, too, but you can't doom the lot of them for the actions of a couple of 'em." He scared her when he got like this. Granted, it was more often than not, but sometimes...sometimes, she thought there was more to him. Little glimmers of could be, may be that kept her beside him.
It was foolish to think she could make him better, but she had to. Had to try at the very least. He was all she had.
haha, yep, guess so! captoftardisFebruary 29 2012, 19:02:32 UTC
"Oh, not much! Just cut off their power supply..." And maybe limiting the oxygen availability in certain sections of the ship, but she didn't need to know that just yet.
He could tell she was slightly panicked, but mostly confused, and a small part of him wanted to apologize for it. However, that part of him was quite small and rather suppressed and he rather carry on. "There, got what I needed." Running back to the vacuum containers, he pressed in some keycodes, which opened a controlled panel where he further added some more coding.
Or the Valeyard, but my knowledge of him is so very limited, lol.summinkothewolfMarch 1 2012, 07:00:22 UTC
Cutting off their power supply didn't sound too bad to her. There were generators on the ship and surely, someone would be down here soon to turn it back on. Except...she might not be a Time Lord and she might not have her A-Levels, but even she knew there was more to it than that.
In no small part because he followed up his work at the terminal by doing something to those containers and yet another control panel. What she hoped he'd done was disable them so nobody could be held captive inside of them again. Bone-deep apprehension and experience told her something else was going on. "That should do what, though?"
Rose hadn't moved yet, instead looking from panel to panel and back to the Doctor. Whereas she had earlier been pressing for a quick return to the TARDIS, now she hesitated.
"That should prevent them from running their terrible experiments." Or also known as, the fluids will back up into the distributing pipes, causing damage and perhaps explosions later. He wasn't sure how caustic things were.
"Oh, don't give me that look, Rose!" It wasn't that she was making him feel guilty but rather that she was in disbelief with him. "I can't let them carry on! I'm just going to give them a taste of their medicine." And potentially suffocate them along with whatever happens with the backed up fluids.
He probably should have stopped after his initial explanation if his goal was to discourage her from any suspicion or disbelief. "I'm not givin' you any look!" She was, though. Her shouted denial wasn't fooling either of them and she knew it, but now she felt defensive and afraid of what he'd do.
These were not good people, but they couldn't all be bad. What would it make her if she just stood by and didn't say anything? "Or, alright, maybe I am but it's 'cos there's a difference between stopping 'em and an eye for an eye. Which one are you doing, Doctor? Look, there's gotta be some sort of...space police, yeah? We could go there an' testify against this lot or whatever. The can't run experiments anymore and that's something," she said emphatically.
The Doctor looked at her with a touch of disbelief. "Space police? C'mon Rose..." There was the Shadow Proclamation, of course, but the Doctor just didn't trust them one bit. He had his reasons.
Little flashing lights started as he motioned his head towards the door. "We're going." He didn't even bother addressing her concerns farther, nor looked as if he had any intent on reversing some of the things he had done.
Rose thought the space police idea was a good one, so his disbelief was on the unwelcome side of things. She might not know of any, but if people were traveling in space from all over, it only made sense that there was some sort of law enforcement. Falling asleep on the job, considering all the trouble she'd seen whilst with the Doctor, but...no. That was it, wasn't it? Maybe that was what he was saying.
The flashing lights added to the sense of urgency already bearing down on her and she looked frantically around the room as if answers would magically appear from the ether. None came. She didn't have any proof he hadn't done just as he said, cutting the power and stopping the experimental machines from working, despite her suspicions. Yelling and the sound of boots coming closer made up her mind for her. "Right. Yeah, we're going."
They slipped out into the hallway, looking back and forth before the Doctor sprinted to the left. Stopping at a divide and keypad, the Doctor pulled out his screwdriver and after a press of a code and some manipulation, a door slammed down, sealing off the section. "Oh that's good... Lovely, even." He muttered to himself, clearly showing that his brain was coming up with some plot.
Turning, and without saying another word to Rose, they continued until they reached an elevator. There indeed was an advantage to cutting the power as the back up generators caused everything to be sluggish, however armed with a sonic screwdriver made up for it.
The elevator doors slammed shut just as guards rounded the corner and shot in their direction. Upwards they went and once the they came to a stop the Doctor opened the control panel and ripped out a few wires. "There, they can't access this level, at least not from these lifts."
The racing pulse and adrenaline pumping through her veins wasn't a novel experience at this point, but it was always powerful and made logical thought more difficult. It made it harder to process little things like the words he muttered or the slant to his lips that might reinforce her fears from before. Mind, she was in favor of him putting doors between them and their pursuers, just as she was in favor of him disabling the elevators if it meant the men with blasters would have to find another means of catching up
( ... )
"Now's not the time to worry about that!" He helped her scramble to her feet and they continued to scurry down the hallway. "That was brilliant back there, Rose." He praised her while his gaze remained focused on ahead of them.
She was right, the TARDIS wasn't too far away, maybe just one more level to go? His senses were telling him it was nearby, and he'd have to trust it's correct.
Hearing voices talking loudly in the distance, he realized that maybe he should've picked up the weapon that soldier had been carrying. "We need to go up, but I think we should take the stairs." Maybe it was a terrible idea, but the elevators would be too slow. Rose should be able to aim and shoot, but then once they entered the stairwell, it'd ricochet along the walls and potentially hurt them. Brilliant. Here's to hoping no one tries to attack them on stairs.
