There was no way he could have gone to work today, but he's wishing that Murphy hadn't gone. The TV's on, but he's not paid attention to it all day, instead just clock watching, counting down to the evening, to his twin coming home and giving him some comfort. He just wants some sympathy, someone to make him dinner and sit in bed with him so he can lie over his brother's lap.
He's so hungry, despite the twisting in his gut. There's a niggling worry in the back of his head. Maybe he got an infection from that dog that bit him a few weeks back?

But MacGerkin is a good man and can read both twins like they're open books. He sends Murphy home early, telling him to pass by the pharmacy before going home, get Connor some aspirins at the very least.
It's good advice, they were running out of them anyway.
Not long after, Murphy is stepping into their shared apartment, the paper box of suplies tucked between his arm and chest. "Con'? How are yeh feelin'?"
Reply
Connor's curled up in a tight ball on his mattress, his arms are pressed against his stomach as hard as he can, his knees tucked up against them. His sheets are scattered over the bed, one corner wrapped around his feet from when he was tossing and turning not that long ago.
The pillow is torn and on the floor. Connor can feel the shreds of cotton thread still stuck between his teeth, but that discomfort is nothing compared to his stomach and the pounding in his head.
And then something else starts. A pain more horrible than any other so far. It's like his spine is splitting his skin, trying to push out of his back.
"NOOO!!! NOOOAAWWOOO!!!!"

Dropping everything on the floor, he launches himself to Connor's side as soon as his brain gives a kick, shakes him off that confused spot. He still doesn't get what could be putting his twin into so much pain, but he needs to be by his brother's side. "Connor? What the fuck's goin' on?!"
Reply
"Murphy..." The name comes out a bit slurred as he struggles to find his way around his new mouth.

In a blink Murphy is burrying his knees on the mattres, not quite sure of how to help but putting his hands on Connor nevertheless.
"I should call the doctor, Con'. I can do that. Should I call the doctor?"
Reply
"Aye..." He nods. He's panting hard. He's so hot, so hungry. His tail is wedged firmly between his legs, the scrap of material that was his boxer shorts digging into his swollen thigh, only the stitched hem of one leg remaining intact.

"What's happenin' ta yeh?"
What is he going to tell the doctor anyway? Come quick, my brother is transforming into a dog-man?

The pain is starting to subside too. Slowly, he uncurls, moving on the mattress so that he's balanced on the balls of his feet as it that was a comfortable and natural position to be in.
Leaning forwards, he smells the figure in front of him. His cold, wet nose touches the other's skin a couple of times as he sniffs and huffs out breath over his face and down to his chest.

But this is Connor and that's the reason why Murphy tries to push the fear aside as the creature smells him. He can see hints of big and sharp teeth as the cold nose pokes at his face, hot breath hitting his skin.
"Connor..."

But, he's still hungry and everything else in here smells old and dead. Even the rodent he can smell behind the thin lining out the wall. With a final, unimpressed huff other his brother's hair Connor gets up.
Straight away he's hit by the breeze from an open window. Its not fresh air, but there's living things to hunt out there. He quickly bounds across the room and headfirst through the window, onto the fire escape.

"Oi!" Getting on his feet, he reminds himself that this creature that could sure rip his head off in one bite is none other than his own blood. "Connor' get back in here! Con'!"
Leaning against the window, he doesn't know just how safe is to attempt touching Connor right now. So he insists trying to talk with him. "Please come back inside, brother."

In fact, they're more interesting.
He climbs onto the metal rail banister, and drops over it, confident, not for the first time in his life or even this year, that something will break his fall. Landing in the pile of trash bags sitting outside the mostly empty dumpster, he sends up a cloud of wrappers and dust.

He is far more scared now seeing Connor jump off their floor, far more scared than he is of his brother's new self.
Glancing back over his shoulder, Murphy takes a quick look at the door, wondering how long it would take for him to use the elevator. Even the stairs.
No. Connor will be long gone by the time he makes it downstairs. Even if he used the fire escape...
It's a leap of faith, the same one his brother had taken. The cold air hits his face as Murphy falls, forcing his eyes close as he prays to God to help him survive it.

He knew that his pack mate was following; maybe he wanted to join the hunt with him? Either way, he barely reacted at the smaller creature landing in the trash alongside him, instead digging out a half eaten hamburger patty.
He started to wolf it down before the other could see what he had and tried to take it from him.
