...I do. [he sounds indignant, but that's just because.. yeah, he's a little embarassed. He can't help but hold her closer, kissing the top of her head.] Don't talk about it right now.
[She frowns at him, but can't help leaning into the warmth and shivering up against his chest. Not that she's about to listen to his directions, though.]
...Just, you know. Stuff. [like, sorry and he'd miss her.. and thanks. Nothing, really. Just stuff.] Warm enough? We should move you.. [and maybe her clothes would have to go.. he wondered if she'd take his spares.]
Obviously there was s... stuff in it, Clay. What kind of st... stuff? [She frowned, though her head rested in the crook of his chest. Because for some reason she was gravitating towards him and not the super hot fire to her left.]
Not me - [he flushes just a little, chuckling.] You. Gotta get you out of those clothes and dry. [he's gentle as he makes her lean close to the fireplace.] Wait here? I'll get something for you to wear -
[Fine. Dodge the question, Clay. But remember, she's a reporter. She has her ways of getting answers. Shifting closer to the fireplace at his direction, she rubs her hands together and leans into the heat. It's working wonders to warm her up, but he's right; the ice on her clothes and in her hair is starting to melt.]
Disappear for months and the first time I see you again you want me naked. [She glances up at him to shoot him a smirk.]
Lois. [it's fond, more than irritated.. she only ever makes him smile.] Please get my shirt on you. [he tucks it under her arm, eyes lowered, carefully not looking.. but he does wink as he glances up at her. Familiar and easy, like they've always been. It should worry him how easily he can recall this, go back to it.]
[The shivering has finally dissipated, thanks to her closer proximity to the fire. She gets to work stripping off her wet clothes, starting with her jacket, then her blouse, then her undershirt. Shifting to her feet, she wrestled herself out of her boots and wet jeans, and by the time she's done all but her bra and underwear are sitting in a pile next to the fire. She's not exactly shy to bare herself in front of him, considering he has seen it all before.
Still, she can't help but tease him a little. He's averting his eyes, so she just smirks and tugs on his shirt, which is comically oversized on her slim frame. Then go the wet bra and underwear into the pile, and she places her hands on her hips and smirks at him expectantly.]
Ecstatic. Come on. [he laughs, lifting his hand out to her to bring her closer to where he's lain out a blanket to the floor for her. He glances critically at the grate of logs beside it - they were running out fast. He didn't want to go out there yet, but he knew he'd have to.]
- So. My letter.. I guess leaving it alone is too much to ask? [he rubs his eyes a little, tired.] I was just saying.. 'goodbye', I guess.
[She follows his lead, her gaze catching the dying fire and frowning. Not looking forward to letting that source of heat fade, but they'd tackle that when the time came. She glanced back up at him when he started speaking, chewing on her inner lip a moment.]
You're the one who brought it up again, Sasquatch. [she teased, her hand lingering in his, toying with it idly. She frowned at that last part, though, searching his eyes.]
[he glances across at her, frowning. Why? Well...] Because I left? I mean - [he shrugs his shoulders briefly.] I know we weren't really... together, but.. I felt bad. [he'd never been one for casual relationships. Everyone he slept with, meant something in some way.]
[She fought an eyeroll.] No, not why did you say goodbye, obviously I know you left, Clay. [She let go of his hand, sighing.] Why did you leave? Sure, we weren't official or anything, but... I just... thought I deserved a little more than you up and leaving out of the blue.
I didn't mean to, you know - that's why I wrote the thing. [he sighed, looking away.] I didn't want you to think it was because I didn't... want to stay.
