"He had it coming." For once there wasn't even a hint in his voice that he might be joking. Damnit, Darcy, you are not allowed to be kidnapped and possibly-dead ever again.
"When I don't feel like I've been pulled through the ringer, I might just have to kiss you later." Believe it, if she can ever help it this will never happen again. Second she is healed she's making sure that Jane can take care of herself. Darcy had great faith in her boss slash sister, but Darcy had taken training. She'd put in the hours, and no matter how many times Jane had come with her she worried about the scientist.
"Promises, promises," he said with a fleeting grin. But yeah, such a thing can wait until she's seen a doctor and he's not in the armor any more. To judge from the shouts and crashes still coming from afar, the battle was still ongoing, but the noises remained distant as he steered her back to where the jet and the med team were waiting.
"Hey girls gotta have something to look forward too. Hot man in a fancy tin can seems like a good bet." She halts for just a second to catch her breath, wincing as she does so. God damn it if her Caped 'family' doesn't kill everyone, she's going to find a way to do it herself. Gathering her wits and whatever adrenaline she has left she starts walking again.
"Rescue and eye-candy. Two for the price of one." Staying close on the way - he's not convinced about her ability to stay upright on her own - he leads the way out to the jet. On arrival she's immediately swarmed by medics.
Slightly overwhelmed by the sudden gang of doctors and nurses checking her over Darcy takes a heavy step and sinks to the floor of the jet using Tony as a brace. Sitting is good. Looking up at him with a small smile, she tries to signal one of the less busy nurses to get her some water, making a slight noise when she's ignored and gets a flashlight in her eyes instead, checking her pupil dilation.
He's not hovering protectively. Absolutely not. He's...totally doing something relevant and useful and not getting in the med team's way even slightly. That's his story and he's sticking to it. Fortunately no-one asks him to justify his presence.
She winces when the nurse finally removes the damn light from her eyes, and shoots back when a nurse presses just a little too hard on her swollen cheek. "Tony?" She just wants some water and for this well meaning but hard handed nurse to stop pawing at her face for a second. The more they poke and prod at her the more she realizes just how tired she is, so tired. But the last thing Darcy even wants to think of doing right now is sleeping.
"Sure, uh..." He looks around distractedly, not entirely sure where such a thing would be found in the jet. One of the doctors rolls her eyes at him and hands Darcy a bottle of water.
"Thanks Doc." Thankfully the doctors and nurses back off long enough for her to take a long drink, wincing slightly when the cool liquid coats the inside of her dry throat just as a loud roar from Hulk echoes from some vague location in the hydra building. "I think that party could use some more Iron Man."
[his voice is concerned as he does as instructed by Ms. Potts - wiping off Tony's brow.] Are you certain all this hacking will not cause it to drop out? [he's referring to the reactor, blue eyes narrowed with worry.]
Big guy, my batteries- [He's interrupted by another coughing fit; a horrible, wet tearing noise. Stupid crazy alien germs. Everyone else was hit hard and in varying levels of quarantine, leaving Thor and Steve - the only ones apparently immune - looking after the rest of them. Stupid superhumans] My batteries are the least of my problems right now.
