Raylan Givens | Justified | he's hetero neverleftharlan June 6 2011, 19:58:17 UTC
....4+1. How does this even happen. :| shotofdumbidea June 6 2011, 22:27:48 UTC
[Georgia haaates waiting. Especially without Shaun. Especially outside. She glares at her PDA for a moment, then slips it into a pocket and glances up at Raylan.]

I didn't even know the Marshal Service still existed. Is the hat part of some uniform or is that all-

[And then the moaning starts up somewhere nearby, and Georgia goes very still and very alert as she tries to pinpoint which direction it's coming from.] ...crap. [Well. Very still as long as you don't count her reaching for the most easily accessible gun currently on her person.]

Since 1789 and the appointment of the first thirteen marshals by President George Washington himself. And it's not, though I've often said it should be.

[Raylan's answer is absent, as he's fiddling with his own phone and wondering if either of the boys or their mother have tried to give him a call. The absent-ness, however, vanishes at the first sound of zombies.

Damn, but he hates zombies.

Raylan checks that there's a load racked in to his scattergun and takes a step forward so Georgia is between him and the wall of the compound she's supposed to be housed in for the next week or two, with his thrilled company.

That is, if the paperwork was all in order, which it's apparently not. He's starting to smell something rotten in the state of Kentucky and for once it's not reanimated roadkill.]

Buzz the gate, if you please, and let them know we've a bit of a situation developing.

[Georgia watches him for a moment from the corner of her eye while she glances around for the buzzer, pistol held down by her leg while she waits for the zombies to make an appearance.]

You know, I never was a fan of shotguns... [This is absolutely important information, Raylan, but you're going to have to respond to it later. Right now, she's busy whacking the buzzer and snarling at whoever's guarding the gate.]

This is Georgia Mason with Marshal Givens, and we've got a pack of zombies outside. Pretty big, from the sound of it. Do you think we could come inside now, pretty please? Or maybe some of you nice men with guns could come outside...

[He eyes the buildings surrounding them with deep misgivings. There shouldn't be a big pack of zombies this deep in a populated zone, not one with this heavy a military presence and closely-guarded perimeter. And there's the first of them.

He hoists the shotgun, waits, and blows the advancing zombie's head into a pink and white gore cloud.] They have their uses.

[The voice on the other side of the buzzer crackles, buzzes, and then the comm itself appears to die. The gate stays shut, and no one comes to the windows overhead.

Raylan swears under his breath, blows the head off a second zombie and rips a chunk from the one next to it, and pulls his sidearm. The next three shots go between the eyes of three more shamblers.

There's at least ten in the open now and still moving, some of them trotting along with that horrible freshness that indicates an outbreak. He grits his teeth, swivels around and aims the shotgun at the windows overhead.] Cover me a moment.

[He fires. The windows explode in a shower of glass and screams from ( ... )

[She tries not to flinch at the first shotgun blast, and mostly succeeds. It helps that she's staring at the comm in mixed shock and annoyance. At this point, she should probably just start expecting these kinds of things to happen around her. After a moment, she slams her palm against the comm on the off chance it'll help something - it doesn't - and spins around.]

I guess if you don't mind splattering highly infectious bodily fluids all over the place... [Georgia raises her pistol and aims for the head of the nearest one, taking a moment or two to be sure of her shot before she fires. Her aim's good, but not enough to count on one bullet to a zombie - and she's already a little below that ratio.

At his request to cover him, she moves without really thinking about it, focusing on the freshest of the group. Making sure they don't get eaten takes up most of her attention for a moment or two, but then she frowns without looking back at him.]

What're you doing? [This is a little like being in the middle of an outbreak with Shaun, ( ... )

At a safe distance, I don't mind. [He says that over his shoulder, racks in another load and whistles up at the broken window.] Gettin' their attention. Excuse me! I beg your pardon, but we've a bit of a situation down here, so if you'd prefer not to be filled with lead and dealing with reanimation of your own, I suggest you open the gate or give us a few extra gun hands.

[He glances back at the moaning crowd and turns to put two more rounds in two more zombie skulls. He takes the ear off a third zombie and makes a disappointed sound.] Here I was thinking I might get out of this with a new one-for-one record.

[Georgia grimaces and puts that one down herself, wings and then drops a second, and lets out a breath she'd been holding.] If we get out of here alive, I promise not to contradict you if you want to say that anyway.

[She fires three more times, and then steps back behind Raylan to reload - she'd really prefer more distance between her and the undead while she's doing this, but she doesn't really have anywhere else to retreat to, and she wasn't armed for an outbreak like this. From now on, she is carrying a minimum of three fully loaded guns, no matter what.]

You think they're actually coming down, or just moving away from all the windows you could shoot at?

Oh, I think they know me well enough to realize that I'll sabotage the security of the gate to get us inside, if it comes to that. I've a bit of a reputation in these parts. [He shoots the next closest zombie and whistles at the window again.] I hope you heard that, up there, as I'm not particularly fond of repeating myself.

[As if in answer, the gate gives a shrill buzz and swings inward. Raylan hefts the shotgun and blows the legs out from under the nearest zombies.] Ma'am, if you wouldn't mind going inside.

[Georgia shakes her head a little, wondering vaguely if she's impressed, or if she would have preferred an escort less prone to dramatic stunts like that. She'll go with impressed for now, since it got them inside, and the second she can get inside, she backs through the open gate as quickly as possible without tripping over herself.

Though once she's actually through the gate and she's reasonably sure Raylan's got them covered for the moment, she can't help glancing around at the rest of the compound, and any windows or security towers or men with guns she can see. That gate took too long to open, this outbreak is too big and too fast to be natural, and she hasn't forgotten Eakly - or Sacramento. If someone's going to shoot her here, she'd like to at least see it coming.]

[Raylan puts another zombie down before backing in after her, and as soon as the gate is shut it crackles, electrified. He yanks his hands clear and yells up at the broken window,] Thank you kindly for the warning!

[It's cross. He's cross. He knew watching this one would be a bit more dangerous than his normal assignments, but the feeling that she's being targeted and he's expendable enough to get thrown to the wolves is not a pleasant one, nor unwarranted. Raylan steps in close to her, watching both the zombies and the empty spaces between them and the buildings.] I've got you. Get to the door and get your test done.

[The moaning hasn't stopped, but at least now the shamblers are being kept back by the electricity in the fence. If he were alone, he'd probably plug as many as he could just out of respect for the dead. As it is, his grip on the shotgun goes white-knuckled and he grits his teeth until they squeak.]

[Georgia knows better than to ask him if he's sure - if the gate and a shotgun aren't enough to hold them off long enough for a bloodtest, they're dead anyway. She runs to the door, all but slams her hand against the test pad, and only flinches a little at the bite of the needles, her eyes on Raylan and the zombies rather than the indicator lights. When she looks back, they're all green.

The door's also still closed and locked. Georgia grimaces and pulls her hand away, and the lights go dark again.] Marshal? You think you can spare a hand for a few seconds?
