She listened quietly and without a hint of expression on that beautiful face as he poured out all his dirty deeds. "That was not the smoothest of propositions I've ever heard of. Especially to a man like Steven who would take offense to you trying to pay him for his help with your body, no." Natasha agreed, wandering a few steps ahead of Bucky. "If you want to leave, then leave, James. But do not use Steven as an excuse for why you are running."
"Goddammit, Natasha, that's not the case at all." He must have been in a bad mood to curse at a lady. Or maybe it was just leftover from his days in the whorehouse. Old habits die hard. "You don't even know what I've been through, so don't you dare make snap judgments about me."
If possible, her already cool demeanor frosted even further at the coarse language. It was hardly the first time someone had cursed at her but that didn't mean she would broke such rough behavior either. "You are right, but I am fond of Steven and will not let you use him as a justification for being a coward. If you wish to run, do so but don't say it's because of Steve."
"May not be the only reason I'm leaving, but he's sure as hell one of 'em," he grumbled. "And I'm not bein' a coward. If I were...well, I don't know what I'd be doin' if I was a coward, but not this. Probably let Lukin catch me or even return to him cause I'd figure he was gonna catch me sometime anyway." He tilted his head, eyes narrowing. "But I'm not gonna let him take me. Never again."
