Truthfully that she was nervous amused Riley. Tyler was never nervous. In action and on missions he had barely ever seen her crack under pressure. But this was a speech. In front of Torchwood executives from all over the world. So he wasn't about to tease her about her nerves. Much.
She'd been pacing and fretting in the green room ever since Riley had arrived a few minutes ago. Goodness knows how long before that she'd been wearing down the carpet in front of the makeup counter mirror. He wasn't sure if the nervousness was stagefright in general or the fact she was going up in front of hundreds of administrators and peers from around the globe.
"You'll do fine, love." He prompted softly, slipping an arm around her waist from behind, whispering in her ear, watching their reflection in the mirror. "You're gorgeous an' know yer stuff. Ye're gonnie blow 'em away wi' yer speech. I jus' know et." He bent down to kiss her collarbone softly and gently squeezed her in a hug.
She has reason to be! This speech thing is important: not only does it deal with funding for the cannon (which she prefers rather than use her father's money, but it could mean nixing 'liasons' like Riley. Lots of things stand to go wrong at once. She is rightfully worried about this.
She almost startles when he touches her...and then, given they're alone, relaxes into his arms with a sigh. His smooth, rolling accent is nice, and the kiss doesn't hurt either. "If I'm too impressive they might think I should go solo."
