So, it had come down to this, had it? He supposed it was only fitting that his life was ended with a bang and the sweetly acrid scent of gunpowder. After all, wasn't that how his rise to the top of the crime world's ladder had begun? By firing a shot into his brother's back on a cold, damp evening in late September?
At least Thor hadn't really felt anything, or Loki told himself. He'd shot his brother straight through the heart, and his death had been instantaneous. It seemed that he wasn't going to be so lucky though, and he let out a rasping, wet laugh as he stared down at the blood pouring out of a hole in his gut. It was just his luck, wasn't it? Fated to die a slow and painful death, propped up against the wall of his foyer. How had it come to this?
Clint wasn't even supposed to be there, he was out looking after some warehouses on the east side. Something just felt wrong when he got to the house though. He headed inside tentatively, but froze as soon as he saw it. He even went so far as to think he might be happy if it happened, if he was freed from everything. Because he didn't love Loki, did he, he loved Phil. But oh shit.
"Loki." The man who had given him everything. The one who pushed him when he wasn't good enough, hurt him when he deserved it and loved him more the rest of the time.
And he was down on his knees, pressing his hand against the wound and trying to use his jacket to stop the bleeding. "You can't-.. hold on, just hold on. I'll get you to the hospital." He looked up at Loki's face, desperately willing him to hold on.

Loki had prepared to meet his maker completely alone, and he'd closed his eyes, letting himself drift as he waited for the darkness to claim him. He wasn't expecting to be drawn back by the sound of Clint's voice.
He forced his eyes open and managed a weak smile when he saw his underboss kneeling beside him. He could feel Clint's hand on his abdomen, and his laugh was little more than an exhalation of air.
"Don't...think a hospital is going to help, Clint," he mumbled.

Clint moves a hand off of the wound to the side of Loki's neck, placing his thumb on the man's cheek. "Don't say that. They can help you."
Everything would collapse without Loki. But it wasn't just about that. There was a lot more than just Loki's empire at stake. Clint watched his eyes, swallowing hard and blinking back tears of his own. He'd seen too much death and he was in the wrong business for that.

Loki shook his head, feeling weak. He was angry. His story wasn't supposed to end like this. There was so much that he hadn't done, and who would continue his life's work? Who would take over his empire?
"Clint, you have to promise me something," he said, coughing. "You have to promise that you'll get the son of a bitch who did this, and take care of Torunn."
He closed his eyes; there was so much more he wanted to say, things Clint needed to hear. "I...I love you, Clint. I'm sorry I didn't tell you that more."
He set his mouth into a line, still trying to swallow the lump down in his throat. "Loki.."
But he will. He has no qualms at all about avenging Loki's death. "I will. I'll make them pay for this, I just-.." But he trails off again. It hurts him even more. A couple of the tears escape down his face and he leans forward, kissing Loki for what will probably be their last time.
Loki has no doubt that Clint will avenge him, and he manages a smile as he returns the kiss. He's getting cold and breathing has become even more of a struggle.
"You're strong, Clint. You can do this."
He smiles up at Clint, a single tear sliding down his cheek, and then his eyes close, his body going still.

Starving himself hadn't been too much of a stretch. He was defeated, his pride wounded, and he'd given up the will to live. He was wasting away before everyone's eyes, and even Thor hadn't been able to convince him to live.

( tony found out that he'd began to drink more than usual- desperate times call for desperate measures. Loki was dying and here tony was day after day, trying to drink away his pain. He didn't even know if loki loved him- wouldn't you try to fight for your own survival and for the one you loved? This was why tony had doubts that the god didn't love him. It hurt stark in more ways than one. Though there was a high possibility that he could be wrong, that loki certainly had strong feelings other than sex, towards tony. But loki hasn't said a word. So the billionaire enters their bedroom and sits on the edge of the bed as he remains silent until loki reacts to his presence. The human hesitates for a moment before saying- )
