"I cannot believe you're asking that, darling." He looks right back, a soft smirk on is lips. He really did come out to look at the stars and hopefully a meteor shower. Perhaps.

"Are you becoming jealous, Filimor? I never thought I'd see the day."

"Maybe," he says, twisting around and covering Victor's mouth with his briefly. He tastes of sugar and citrus. "Just a little."

"And who might you be jealous of?" He nips at Aubrey's lip, tugging at his lower lip for a moment, eyes flicking to the other man's blue eyes before letting go of it. Eyes back on the stars twinkling in the sky.

"Everyone --" a kiss "-- no one. But that is also the Leo's way, no? To be jealous and possessive. And when have I ever needed the reason to be either."

What he does feel, if at all, is rooted more in the fear of loss than any real worry about Victor's fidelity. There had been others before, and there would probably be others later, but they tended to find their way back to each other.

"Maybe -" A sharp kiss for the one stolen, "-I shouldn't name drop. But... I suppose that is the Leo's way. Being pompous and interfering is among them, too."

Now? Right now he's too swept off his feet, too content and happy with this man to think about the future. But, he supposes they will drift away and twine together. Not... not all that long after the truce, really.

A huff of amusement. "So, really. I'm just playing the role I've been given? I don't know whether to be comforted or offended."

"We'll celebrate your birthday in July. A cake made of chocolate truffles and white chocolate." His eyes keep scanning the sky now, lips pressed together. "You're not looking up, darling."

"Oh, my." He turns his gaze skyward, as directed. "But that does sound heavenly."

"Better." His hand rests against Aubrey's stomach, just below the navel, "But. But I think you've seen far lovier."

The sky must have been darker when Aubrey was younger, before he became what he is from what he was. And even when he took his current form, the sky had to be so much darker and the stars glorious and beautiful.

Still, it's lovely enough for Victor.

"For a given value of lovely," he agrees. "But there is something to be said for this, too."

His gaze drifts from the sky. "The rarity makes it that much sweeter."

"You're going soft on me.... I find it terribly appealing." Arms squeeze tighter and fondly. "Who wants to stargaze with a polished diamond of a cat?"

"Ah!" His voice rises, the soft posh of his accent dropping to the mild Estuary. "There! There, you see? I wasn't far off with the time." He points over Aubrey's shoulder.

The rush of light across the sky is nothing short of magical and he marvels at it in much the same way a small child will marvel at a particularly elaborate firework display. It is true that he has lived long and seen much but at this very moment there is nothing more beautiful and memorable in his mind.

Stars are lovely, and always will be. To be honest, he never much cared for them until he grew older. When he didn't see them that often and preferred living in a city after that. But now it seems right. It seems perfect right now to watch them streak across the sky. A slow, easy streak he'll remember. "Were these omens to you, ever?"

"I always thought that sort of thing was rubbish, personally."

A nasty business, really, divination; blood magic, he could understand, magic was rooted in blood and bone after all, but even then it was something to be treated with wariness rather than exalted.

(Never mind that so few of the old mystics had even an inkling of talent.)

"They do have a way of putting things in perspective, however."

"Perhaps there was more of that thought than we think. People were rational and logical. The Victorians liked to think they were the height of civilization and all that came before them were... silly."

He sighed, eyes on the skies and stars. Funny how they were in seen in such awe when a threat lurked among them.

"They make even the oldest feel small? Or perhaps they're like old friends?"
