Take two, and we'll go with a 7 luciendaskyMarch 7 2013, 22:20:57 UTC
He hadn't asked for this. He hadn't even asked for a serious relationship, but after fooling around with a lot of guys that seemed to enjoy the whole friends with benefits deal, Lucien had finally picked one out that wanted a whole lot more commitment than that, and he'd surprised himself by agreeing to it.
He hadn't realised the agreement came with complicated extras though. Robin scared him a little, to be honest, he could feel her judging him even from across the room. He should have worn a less gay shirt...
She was judging him, yes. But it had nothing to do with his shirt, her Dad owned plenty of them and much gayer ones as well.
No, as she munched on her breakfast, all she could think of was that she was going to be acting like a zombie for the rest of the day. She hadn't slept at all the night before.
"Morning," she replied quietly, giving her toast another small bite. She wasn't that hungry, really. But what else could she do when she had been waken up so early?
"Well, like, I bet." It was no news to her, hearing her Dad had issues with getting up early. But she wanted to make her point come across as quickly as she could. "Since like, no one slept last night."
Grabbing her own glass of juice, she took a long sip as she held his gaze, challenging.
He was in the process of reaching for the cereal, but he froze at that. She heard? Of course she heard, who wouldn't have? ... Fuck. How old was she? Far too young to be thinking about her dad having sex. You're never old enough to think about that...
"Fuck, I'm sorry. We should have been more quiet..."
It wasn't the first time her Dad pulled one of this, so she knew who was to truly blame here. And she had already met many of her Dad's dates to hold anything against them when they didn't seem to be like, total assholes.
"Doesn't matter now." She shrugged. "I can always guilt trip him later and make him buy me things."
He snorted, taking it for a joke. Although he quickly dropped the smirk when he saw her deadpan face. Maybe she was being serious, he wouldn't blame her if she was really.
"He didn't tell me he had a daughter living here until we got through the front door." He felt a bit guilty telling on her dad, but he was still in bed, leaving him to fend for himself.
She eyed the cereal box he had previously grabbed but left forgotten once thay started talking. Pushing herself off the table, she went to the fridge, brought him some milk in some sort of peace offering.
"Yeah, he can be a dick like that sometimes." She left the bottle in the middle of the table, for him to grab if he wanted. "But he's had trouble hooking up because of being a Dad before. He's whined a lot about unsensitive men, trust me."
He nodded and reached for the milk to pull it closer. As she talked he poured out the cereal and splashed the milk over it. She was sounding warmer already.
"Yeah, I can understand that. It's hard to be a single dad anyway, single gay dad's are a rare species, no man expects to pick up a guy with baggage."
He puts the milk down and gives her an apologetic look. "Not that I'm saying you're baggage..."
Too late. The way she was arching a brow and the suddent stop of how she was chewing on her toast said it all.
"No, thank you. I needed a new username for Twitter. Baggage sounds awesome."
Standing again she went to fetch a bowl for herself, since watching him with the cereal had made her crave a little. "So, have you freaked out yet? I can always give Dad the message if you want to run for your life."
"I'm not freaked out." He tried to clarify. He'd put his foot in his mouth but there was no point in trying to back out of that and dig himself a deeper hole.
"If I had been I would have left without trying to make small talk with you."
He took a mouthful of cereal and ate, waiting to see how she would react.

And it was their fault.

"Good morning." He smiled at her as he reached for the orange juice and poured himself a glass. Maybe she just wasn't much of a morning person.

"My Dad's still asleep?"

He chuckled, thinking this was quite funny. He was used to having a slightly more mature brother for company who could take this stuff in his stride.
"He was saying something about spending the day at the beach when he does get up."

With a nod, she smiled to herself while pouring milk on her own cereal.
