6. Dance your cares away. lydialied August 28 2015, 12:17:41 UTC
It was Delia’s idea, naturally. Normal teen girls go to dances. It’ll be good for you Lydia. It’ll make your father feel better... Delia’s words echoed in Lydia’s head but it had been the last ones about her father that had finally made Lydia surrender. He had seemed somewhat happy to see Lydia go out like a so called normal teenager which was a little consolation. At first. However in the midst of a darkened gymnasium with terrible music filled with people she didn’t know nor did she care for, Charles Deetz’s happiness was quickly forgotten. Just an hour, Lydia told herself. I just have to stick around for a hour and then I can get the hell out of here.

At least Lydia had brought her camera. She made her way around the gymnasium, taking pictures at anything that caught her eye when someone off by the wall caught her eye. Discreetly, Lydia edged closer to get a better look at the stranger.

Mark was in a similar situation of trying to appease his parents by coming to the dance and like Lydia, he had decided to bring his own entertainment. A tape deck with a mix of music he had played on his Hard Harry radio show was concealed in his jacket with some cords to attempt a hook up to speaker system. If things got boring Mark could at least liven the dance up with music that wasn’t churned out by the corporate market machine. What was said about this was that this was Marks’ plan B. His plan A had been to actually try to fit in. To actually try and talk other people but that had failed miserably. Now he had edged his way over to the sound system and had begun to hook up his tape deck when the hairs on his neck stood up. Someone was behind him.

Pausing, Mark looked over his shoulder to confirm the feeling and spotted the goth girl. He hadn’t seen her around school before. As casually as he could, Mark tried to hide what he was doing by keeping his back to the girl while still looking over his shoulder. “Um, hey”.

It was still warm as the nice weather lingered on from summer, almost too warm for the first day of school in Zelda's opinion. Couldn't summer vacation have been extended for a few days or weeks more? Anything to put off Zelda's start at a new school. As she approached the building Zelda took a deep breath to calm herself. Why was she so damn nervous? It was just school! She would be fine. Worst case scenario is she wouldn't talk to anyone and would that really be that bad?

The first thing Zelda had to do was check in at the office for her schedule when she heard an announcement over the PA instructing all new students to go to classroom 103. What's this about? Zelda wondered as she headed off in search of classroom 103.

7. Off to the library- Either rivals or working together is fine by me underseahacker August 28 2015, 16:07:02 UTC
If given the choice Lucas would always pick tests over assignments any day. Sure, assignments allowed for more in-depth discussion and research but they ate up so much time! Plus it was group work, which made it a even bigger chore. Lucas was a social guy but when it came to school work Lucas preferred to work alone. In his past experiences other kids just couldn't keep up and Lucas always had to simplify his ideas.

'Maybe this time will be different', Lucas thought as he headed to the library to meet up with his group. 'Maybe someone with three quarters of a brain will be in my group this time'.

Lets go with Rivals. Ps, sorry for delay - Busy weekend. lydialied August 31 2015, 12:41:55 UTC
A group project? Lydia would rather have been hung from her heels and forced to listen to polka for a week then have to deal with working in a group project. She tried briefly to talk the teacher out of forcing her to work with a group but to no avail. The history teacher insisted that all aspects of the industrial revolution couldn’t be captured by one person’s report alone. Lydia begged to differ but that fell on deaf ears. So she went to her group and proposed the next best thing: They all pick an aspect and work on it individually. They took the bait and no one argued with Lydia claimed disease during the industrial revolution as her topic for the project, leaving her free to head to the library alone ( ... )
