[Even with Kumajirou beside him, Canada was feeling... so very lonely. He curled up under the sheets, willing the feeling to go away, but it didn't...
After a long pause Canada slips out from under the sheets and quietly crosses the room to the door. Hugging himself against the cool air in the hallways and trying very hard not to cry, Canada makes his way to France's room.
There is no need to wake Papa- he will just quietly slip in to the room, up onto the large bed, and curl up beside him.]
[France isn't exactly a light sleeper, but through centuries of having people get in and out of his bed (yeah, this happens), he notices when there's a shared weight pushing down on the mattress. At first, he dismisses it (it's early in the morning and he's not sure if he wants to risk not being able to fall back asleep), but in the bleary confines of his half-sleeping mind, he thinks about who would be polite enough to try not to disturb him in his sleep even as they were climbing into bed with him.
He opens one eye, letting his vision adjust to the figure beside him, and mumbles a hoarse:]
[Canada lets out a muffled sob before opening his eyes again and looking back at France.]
S-sorry. Sorry, Papa...
[He curls up even more in a gesture of 'please don't let me disturb you any more I'll just quietly be over here...' (please don't mind me if I start crying).]
[France sits up a bit, pulling his fingers through his own hair, trying to wake himself up. Canada is crying, he can tell that much, and his usually carefully-hidden paternal side is acting up-- he'd thought he'd discarded that kind of deep-rooted sentimentality ages ago! Apparently not, and he knows that for all his talk of being the big brother and whatnot, he's not adverse to acting on it.
Leaning against the headboard of the bed, he reaches out and puts one hand on Canada's head, letting his palm rest on the other nation's hair lightly.]
Mm. It's early.
[He's not admonishing, though, when he says that.]
[Canada shakes his head a tiny bit, not wanting to dislodge France's hand. He feels like such a child... (which is not entirely a bad thing when you want to be comforted)]
N-no... I- I just felt really l-lonely... I'm sorry I woke you up...
Mm. I don't mind too much-- I don't have any prior engagements, as you may have noticed.
[A wink, and he waves his free hand towards the bed, insinuating that he had no other 'guests' to attend to tonight, anyway. He chuckles a little and ruffles Canada's hair.]
You have my blessing to sleep with me, cher Canada.
[He laughs, still keeping himself upright while Canada settles down. He'll stay awake until the other goes to sleep, since that's what he used to do when Canada was small-- old habits, dying hard, etc.]

[Blushing, Canada closes his eyes thankfully. He feels a bit better already.]
Th-thank you, Papa. [Tentatively, he reaches out his hands to take France's free hand.] I'm glad that I could come to you.
