To the gallows with you! 5!sixthdeadliestSeptember 20 2011, 00:58:21 UTC
Six leaned against the wall of his cell, resisting to bang his head back against it. He was going to be held indefinitely here. These people wouldn't give him the mercy of a swift death after what he'd been hired to do back when he was a mercenary.
Even worse, they'd drummed up bogus charges in order to kill one of the only people who truly mattered to him. She didn't have much time left. A few hours at best. Then she'd be gone, an innocent soul snuffed out before her time.
He couldn't see her either with their adjacent cells. So he had planted himself against the wall he shared with her cell.
"Holiday," he called, saying nothing else as he let her name carry his concern for her.
"Nothing like a good challenge," she told him. Holiday knew he'd find a way out.
She heard him shift on the other side. To be honest, this was wanting to hurt her arm, too, but she didn't say it, didn't even point out his own movements. It might be selfish, but she wasn't keen on letting go.
She frowned at these words. He was still trying to hope.
"I'll try." How could she not? She stopped herself from adding a second part. She knows she won't make it. There was no way she could from inside a prison in an area she didn't know.
After a beat of silence, she closed her eyes, already feeling herself think too much. If she could... "I'll miss you."
"I'm not that special," she smiled. She didn't want him to think that she was. She didn't want him to care or feel attached or anything. She just didn't want him to feel lose or blame himself.
"Yes, you are." He glanced back towards where he knew she was right through the wall. "Holiday, I've traveled all over the world. I can honestly say I've never met anyone like you before."
For a second, she really didn't know what to say to that. After a second, her lips tried to twitch into a smile. She just wants to see him.
"I can certainly say the same for you," she mumbled, but he probably knew that already. There weren't many people like him, after all, even if she didn't mean it like that. She knew that she couldn't be all that special, though... Maybe to him...

"It's not hard," she softly chuckles, "Just be a little more patient with Rex. He needs it." If she won't be there, he'll need it from someone.

"...If I get out of here alive and make it back to him, I will."
He couldn't promise her more than that. It was highly unlikely he'd be able to escape after all.

She was feeling pretty calm now. It wasn't the best, but it was better. Keeping his hand in her's helped.

"They're certainly going to make it challenging to escape," he said dryly.
Part of him wanted her to rail at him, blame him. It really was ultimately his fault they were in this mess.

He was never going to meet another woman like her. Not if he lived a hundred years.

No, Six wasn't like that. He'll be fine.

"This is not your fault, Six. None of this is. You know that."
Reply
"...Right."
He gave her hand as powerful a squeeze as he could manage.
