The Doctor had been talking to this girl for a full 5 minutes now - blatantly rambling about the inner workings of his sonic screwdriver, when he noticed her body language clearly showed she wasn't interested. And then their eyes met, it all made sense.

"S-Susan!?" And without any hesitation or second thought, he nearly plowed her over with a hug.

[Susan can't help but smile widely when he finally recognizes her, and she laughs as she hugs him back, arms tightly around his neck.] That took you far too long, Grandfather!

[captoftardis]

"Well, you've changed a bit; I've changed quite a bit since we last saw each other. How's the kids? ...and David?"

He hesitated as he quickly calculated a rough estimate of the years that had passed and realized that might've been a bad question.

[thegrandchild]

[She gives him a sentimental smile, because she's not too distraught. She misses David, but she's at peace with his passing.] David's dead, a heart attack, you know how those human hearts are. The kids are all grown up and I happen to be a grandmother.

[captoftardis]

"You're a grandmother? Oh, what does that make me, eh?" He presses his tongue to the roof of his mouth in thought. "...Very, very old."

He didn't know whether to be amused, delighted, or depressed at that notion.

Incredibly old. [Well, Susan is delighted, and she squeezes his hand.] You are so much older than the last time I saw you, Grandfather.

Older and more clever, I hope! Th'TARDIS is still the same... Traveled with a few other people since we've parted. Ran into far too many enemies. From the looks of things, it appears you've stayed safe.

It's hard not to stay safe when you're stuck on Earth to live a tediously normal life.

[captoftardis]

Mm, I had my reasons... and you were quite infatuated. [He shrugs.] Humans. Brilliant species, don't you think?

[thegrandchild]

[She smiles, nodding in agreement.] I was. And I still am, and I always will be I think. He was a wonderful man, Grandfather. [And then she smiles wider.] Absolutely brilliant! 50 years and I'm still not bored with them.

[captoftardis]

I'm glad he was good to you. [He smiled for a moment, thinking fondly of some of the companions he had travel with him.]

Hm, I haven't grown bored with them yet either. Some stick around, some leave sooner than I'd like. In all, I'm still traveling! Not bad for an old Time Lord, eh?
