[Elle looked at Ben a bit concerned. Actually, she was pretty concerned, but freaking out wasn't going to help.] Whatever happens, I'm going to help you out however I can. You know that.

[ellelovespink]

[Elle nodded.] Hey, Zev. I've never had the opportunity to meet you, but from what Ben says you're pretty wonderful. Whatever happened, I'm sure you guys can work things out. One more shot?

[werewolf_hacker]

[Ben feels a stirring inside, and a low whine fills his mind. He starts to say:] Uh, Elle, he's three times my si--

[And then there's a tearing sound, and a wolf the size of a Shetland pony is standing in front of Elle in the shreds of Ben's clothes. He looks faintly ashamed of himself.]

[And she takes a step back, because she hadn't been expecting that. The transformation is nothing like it appears in the movies, which is probably a good thing.] Oh wow.

[She held her hand out toward Zev in what she hoped was a friendly gesture. Elle had only seen wolves at the zoo.]

[werewolf_hacker]

[His ears droop, and his tail waves tiredly. His tongue flicks out to barely caress her hand, and then he shakes out of the clothes and heaves himself onto the couch with a doggy sigh, resting his head on his paws.

He's not sure this is a good idea, especially since he can't talk to her.]

[The language barrier...she hadn't thought of that. But, Zev was back, so she was on the right track. Elle watched as he climbed on the couch and she sat down next to him, patting his head.]

I don't know how this works but I wanted to say thank you. Ben and Guriel are my friends and you've been a big help to both of them. [A pause] I'm sorry if it seems like you've been taken for granted.

[werewolf_hacker]

[He tilts his head. It's not that. He loves his role as the Teddy Bear. But the Predator both frightens and shames him, because it's wearing his skin but it's not him -- and he's afraid that the difference will get blurred in everyone's mind.

Including his own.

Unfortunately, without Guriel here to translate, there's no way to articulate that. He drops his head into her lap and leans into her a little.]

[Zev still doesn't look happy. Maybe she was wrong about why he left. Elle pets his head and his side.] Was there another reason? I wish I could communicate with you the way they can, but I can't. I do have a lot of practice finding things out though. Can you understand me?

[werewolf_hacker]

[He wags his tail and lifts his head, looking into her face. Oh, this should be interesting...]

[ellelovespink]

[Elle's never done this with a non-human before but she's always willing to try.] Is there a problem with either Ben or Guriel?

[werewolf_hacker]

[He shakes his head emphatically. He loves his Packmates. Both of them are unfailingly kind to him.]

[ellelovespink]

[Elle considers this as she pets Zev.] Are you afraid of something? Is that why you left?

[werewolf_hacker]

[He puts a paw over his face and buries his head in her stomach.]

[ellelovespink]

[Elle tries to give him a hug.] Are you afraid of something bad happening to Ben and Guriel?

[werewolf_hacker]

[Always. But that's not why he's been hiding. He leans into the hug and shakes his head again.]

[ellelovespink]

Hmmm....[She goes back to petting Zev when suddenly Elle gets an idea.] Are you afraid of the predator?
