Good End: He's sane again. As sane as he was in childhood, before the drumming ever started. Nothing of them remain, and he is glad of it.
Sometimes he has bad dreams, of course. About the crimes he committed, the things he did--but then he wakes up and has breakfast with his friends and it's alright again.
It's a good way to end the story, isn't it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bad End: They're all dead. Everyone who was ever the least bit kind to him is dead, now and forever.
They were delicious. He even has some leftovers still, a few tortured things waiting for him to dine.
They'll never leave him now. They'll be with him for the rest of his long life. He hears their ghosts whispering to him. And it's not such a bad way for the long story to end.
At least one ghost who's stuck around seems to have gotten comfortable, if her sitting on a nearby ledge and swinging her feet is any indication. If she's a ghost and not just a sign of madness.
Sometimes he has bad dreams, of course. About the crimes he committed, the things he did--but then he wakes up and has breakfast with his friends and it's alright again.
It's a good way to end the story, isn't it?
