Bruno Buccellati | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure | 5 + 3y_k_kMay 18 2011, 06:32:56 UTC
[This wasn't exactly what he thought it would feel like. His lips are dry and his tongue is fat in his mouth; he feels like a hole has been bored through his abdomen.
There's a strange numbness radiating from his shoulders, from his hips, as his extremities give out on him. On the outside, he appears to be just fine, but he can tell that it's only a matter of time.
Why can't he just eat? His body... has given up completely.
[Giorno is sharp, observant-- maybe it's just the little things, maybe he's overthinking things. But there's something about Buccellati that seems off, wrong, and though Giorno's only known the Operative for such a short span of time, he thinks he knows when something is ailing the older man.
...But what?
He waits until the other team members file off to go tend to their own errands, and then approaches Buccellati, his tone grave.]
[A lack of conviction is never a good thing, especially when it's Buccellati speaking with that significant lack. Giorno moves closer, almost insistent, the most insistent he'll allow himself to be in this situation.]
[There's a silent type of defiance there, even though it's heavily tinged with deference-- like when he told Abbacchio that abandoning Fugo was a bad choice.
[Don't give him lip, Giorno. Don't even think about challenging this. For all the weakness that seems to be showing in his body, there's still fire in his eyes.]
Whatever is going on can't be stopped. I've come to terms with it, and that's all there is to say.
If you cannot prevent it, do you want to know? Don't ask too many questions, Giorno. It's dangerous.
[It's not really necessary to jump to conclusions, as the rush of blood to Buccellati's head from the agitation makes him lurch forward and sway a bit.]
[Giorno's expression twists in concern, his brows furrowing as he moves forward to catch the older man. He moves one arm around Bruno to support him, his suspicions half-confirming themselves.
Giorno almost wants to use Gold Experience to scope out what exactly is going on, but he feels that that may be totally out of bounds, invasive.]
[He grips Giorno's arm, steadying himself with the younger man's help. THe easy prompting makes him relent just a little, and he slowly tries to take a seat.]

It's not how he wanted to die.]

You don't seem well.

[But he doesn't sound convinced. He sounds a little hollow, actually. It's easy enough to lean on a pillar here while they take a break.]

Are you tired? No one will blame you if you are.
Reply
[Because deflection is the best way to deal with this, of course.
Everything gets a little dark around the edges, and Bruno blinks for a bit longer than usual.]

...his superior just. Looks so ill.]
I think you should get into the habit of worrying about yourself more. If that's not forward of me to say.
Reply
It's too forward. Why do you worry about things you can't possibly control?

Giorno can be stubborn like that.]
What's out of your control, Buccellati?

And you don't plan on telling us about it?

You should sit down.

...Just for a minute.

[Giorno leads Buccellati a few steps over to a little ledge, and slowly lets go so that Buccellati can sit down.]
...Buccellati. If there's something wrong that might affect all of us, I think it would be in your best interests to at least tell me.

Something happened. I was injured. I haven't been able to eat for a few days.

...I'd noticed that you'd go out while we ate, but...
[He sounds a little bit frustrated with himself.]
...I should have noticed that something was wrong. We should take a break.
