"Sit Down, Erik." Charles' voice is firm and commanding even as the nudge of his mind prods away at the other mutant. He's blocking the door to their shared room, with that persistent, insistent voice in Erik's mind telling him to do as he's told. To just sit back down on the bed before Charles is forced to take more drastic option. Leave? No, he can't leave. He has to stay there with Charles. He needs to stay in the room with Charles, because he will not be alone in this hell house again. Erik is his roommate.

Erik wants to fight it, doing whatever Charles says is not what he normally does. He never does what he's told and it's rather stressful to want to obey his roommate right now. The voice in his head is pushing him to do as he's told as well. When did he get a voice in his head like so many others here? Oh well. He shakes his head, looking at Charles with cold eyes.

Charles growls slightly, irritably, at his roommates resistance. He had never met anyone as resistant as Erik to his powers. He presses harder, pushing some of his constant headache off onto Erik, making that single voice split into echos of multiple commands, like persistent whispers in his ear.

"I said Sit." His voice still has that growl to it. It was bad enough Erik never spoke to him, never answered his questions or bothered to carry on a conversation. He had to listen to the other's mind all the time just to keep focused on one voice, block out the insanity of everyone else. If Erik left, he would lose that. He wouldn't be able to ignore the mental screams of the other 'residents'.

The headache hit him with great force at first then slowly the sound of the other voices. The constant echo of commands. He tries to fight it but slowly his walls started to crumble and his mind gave in. Slowly he sat down, shaking and eyes closed as he tried to block out the sounds but he can't.

Charles knew how to play this game. The moment Erik did as he was told the whispered commands, the push, all faded to a barely there presence. The telepath watched his roommate with intent stares as he took a seat across from him, on the other bed.

"You know, if you would just talk to me, we could get through things like this a lot easier. All I want is a decent conversation." In Charles' mind, it was perfectly reasonable to keep Erik confined to their room until he got what he wanted.

Once the whispers stopped all the tenseness left his body and he slumped against the back of the chair. Taking in a few soft breathes he shacks his head. Erik doesn't talk, he doesn't like talking, and he doesn't like his accented English.

Fine, don't speak, just think.

The words are sharp in Erik's head, not soft and demanding like the earlier commands. He's going crazy with all this silence. Too much of it, and never enough of it in his head. It drives him crazy that Erik won't talk to him, won't even so much as say hello. If he was going to be stuck here, at least his roommate could have the courtesy to distract him from the endless tirade of thoughts around him.

Erik took those words as more the whispers from earlier, not yet noticing that it's all Charles' doing. He looks up at Charles with a frown. What did this roommate want from him? Erik had simply been attempting to leave to go to the rec room. Even if everyone was in there no one seemed to ever bother Erik.
