[inception_bang] "Bloodless" by Bauble (Art masterpost)

My favorite stories all have to do with the question of what it means to be a volitional person - what it means to live, to hurt, to love, and how each of our actions and philosophies all boil down to our personal answers to those questions. In large part, I blame this outlook on having seen Blade Runner at a formative age, on tracking down Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? - Philip K Dick's novel that inspired the movie - and then consuming every other book that came in its wake. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the movie changed the course of my life.
So when I saw that someone was writing a Blade Runner AU, my initial thought was to jump on it. I didn't do it right away - I really had to think, and consider the summary, and see if there was room to do something a little different with it. In terms of Art Direction, Blade Runner is a masterpiece, an absolutely seminal work. There was no way I was going to do it any kind of justice by trying to duplicate it. But then I found out my author was bauble, whose work I respect so much, and then I saw the story. It's a brilliant story, entirely its own, and if you haven't read it yet I urge you to do so now before you dig further into the graphics - they're nothing without it.
The following shouldn't contain very specific spoilers, but they should give you a sense for how some of the story goes - I hope! - and so I do urge you to read it first.

First and foremost, a load of gratitude to bauble for being gracious and kind and smart and super-talented and so patient, and for writing a kickass story. She is a very cool human being and I'm so glad to have gotten to know her a little. To the mods of inception_bang for running a really smooth challenge. And to those of you on my friends list who have been taking my hair-pulling posts in stride, and occasionally talking me down gently but thoroughly. Gracias :)

There is truly a ton of stuff that went into this project, so I've put together a separate resource post that contains proper credits, some notes, and a whole lot of detritus and outtakes that didn't make it into the story for various reasons. Think of it as the bonus disc with the shoddy menu. Enjoy :)
