His marriage.
No matter how unrealistic and unreasonable it appeared to be, it was the truth. He was married. Which led to the next question: why would he get married, anyway? In most cases, people got married because they loved each other. Thinking back to that memory, Yuusei could tell he'd felt what seemed like happiness, fascination and... something he wasn't sure how to describe - all of those at the same time.
Looking at the ring on his finger, Yuusei frowned. Knowing he was supposedly in love with someone and actually feeling that way were two entirely different things. Pulling his glove back on his hand, he stepped out of the apartment building and headed towards the man he spotted outside.
For some reason, he had a feeling it wasn't going to be an easy conversation.

Why the fuck would he have married this guy?!
Everything was so damnably clear in his mind, too. Xanxus himself had worn a perfectly-tailored white suit in honour of the occasion. No bloodstains or anything on it, even. He remembered it taking part on this fucking island, no less, for some reason. When they'd met, how'd they'd gotten engaged, why they'd gotten engaged...that was all still a mystery. Highly suspicious, and yet...
Fuck. At this rate he was going to turn into a blushing girl or some shit. Xanxus' scowl deepened. "Yuusei," he greeted his-- wife? Husband? The fuck was the right terminology here? Fuck it, 'wife' would do-- neutrally. "Got any idea what the fuck is going on?"

... It was complicated. And odd. Especially combined with how vivid the memory of their wedding was. As if it'd happened just the day before. The altar, the ceremony, them... Everything would make perfect sense if it wasn't for the lack of all the things that led to marriage - getting to know each other being the most obvious one.
And there he'd thought that after being kidnapped to a magical island and robbed of his memories nothing could possibly surprise him.
Finally, Yuusei broke the silence and answered his partner's question. "We seem to have remembered the same thing."
That was probably the least specific and the most unhelpful statement he could've come up with.

Still, losing his temper would do no real good so he took a deep breath and rubbed at the back of his neck. Punching Yuusei in the face for being a part of all this bullshit would probably feel very satisfying but would ultimately solve nothing. Xanxus glanced at his fingers, the wedding ring nestled betwixt other equally-ornate jewelery. It fit there; it looked right.
Maybe that was what pissed him off so much. Xanxus didn't like the idea of having other people rate anywhere in his life. He had important shit to do...namely, getting off this fucking island and back to wherever the hell he was supposed to be from. Back to being a mafia boss, apparently, if the Trashling and the shitty 'shark' were to be believed. So why the fuck had he taken time out to get married to some guy who probably didn't have any benefit to him?
Was it really love?!
Shit.He shifted ( ... )
