Overnight, stacks of some substance have appeared all around town. Closer inspection will reveal that these stacks are made of sewing needles. And somewhere in each needle stack is a single straw of hay.

Once again, Danny was thankful that he had the power of intangibility. It wouldn't let him find the hay in the needlestack, but it would certainly let him dig around in it without getting hurt.

And so, the intangible Danny Phantom began searching in the first stack of needles he encountered!

Danny's first lookover of the needle stat yielded nothing. He'll have to look closer to find the hay.

Danny pushes further into the pile, searching as much of the area as he can at a time. It was good that turning himself intangible was almost an unconscious process now, because he needed to focus on looking for that hay...

No hay is found during this sweep.

Xanxus' approach was simple: kick the shit out of these stupid needles until they scattered enough to let him find the damn hay.

And when Xanxus tries, the needles land all over him -- point-first.

Xanxus unleashes a string of curses and rips the needles out of himself, muttering epithets about damned piece of trash islands and their shitty tricks. Then he continues to destroy the pile with the business end of his boot because learning from your mistakes is for the weak and the poor.

He is a little more cautious about, however.

Needles continue to go flying. Some launch back at Xanxus, others fly in other directions. However, there is no hay to be found yet.

After catching sight of a few of the needle stacks, Tsubasa decides that he's going to need some kind of tool to look through them without hurting himself. With that in mind, he approaches a stack with a tray borrowed from the café with which to chip away at the needles until he can look around for the straw.

The tray certainly helps keep Tsubasa from hurting himself, but progress is slow. This might take a while...

Stiiiiill chippin' away. If he can handle waiting under the landlady's bed while she folds laundry, this is nothing.

Tsubasa works for a little while. Still no hay yet.

Emil stood in front of another stack, trying to figure out how exactly he was going to do this. It was a really big stack, with only one bit of hay in there, and knowing his luck it was probably somewhere at the bottom. This was probably going to hurt. Was this really worth whatever he might get?

...Well, it beat having to steal somebody's underwear, and if he was hoping to get whatever this prize was he had to work for it. Emil sighed and started to (carefully) pull out some of the needles in the stack.

Going one needle at a time makes for very slow progress. Emil doesn't find the hay yet.

...Okay, so really after a while Emil starts getting a little more impatient and takes a couple more at a time while doing his best not to prick himself or worse. He doesn't go too fast, though, or else he might miss the hay when it's there.

The pace picks up, but still no hay yet.

Needles go flying all over the place, including some directly at Hibari. No hay, though.

And after a bit of digging, a small patch of yellow is visible. There's a bundle of hay!
