B: Honestly... I'd pay 5-ish dollars or more for your cards. I'm trying to think of what the pretty paper cards sell for and I've bought them before... so I know I'd pay at least what the pretty cards sell for! I don't know what I'd pay for the beads only because I'm not a big bead buyer. (not that I don't love all the beads you made for me, I just wouldn't go out and buy some stranger's beads, that's all. ^_^)

Would it help if I went to the bead store in Arcata and looked around at pricing? Because we have mostly locally owned stores here, so you should be selling stuff at around those prices... since you'd be your own business.

that's amazing kind of you, hailey! i would feel really bad if you made a special trip to the bead store just to check out prices for me, but if you go in there on your own, or if you have some free time and are nearby, that would be great! i've checked the bead store in chico, and looked at a booth at farmers market, plus i'm trying to keep track of the cost of supplies, but getting prices from a business that isn't local could be insightful.

and while we are on the topic of beads, what are your favorite colors? you are one of my few friends who don't have an original vanessa bracelet! i was going to make you one for your birthday but never got around to asking your favorite colors but wanted to go ahead and send your card because it was already late! let me know!

some of the cards i make definitely cost more than others to make so that is definitely going to be a factor when i sell them but i think i am going to shoot for 1/$4 and 6/$20. money i always kind of tight for me though, and i actually buy a lot of my supplies at the dollar store, but shhh! don't tell! it actually works out quite well!

i've been making jewelry lately but am quite intimidated by you and holly's hobbies. my stuff just doesn't measure up! of course, you might think the same, only in reverse, seeing as how it's human nature to be your own worst enemy, and your strongest critic. when i showed steve the bracelet and earring set i made while he was gone this weekend, well, he didn't think i made it! he thought it was that good. i, of course, am skeptical! i think that's going to be the hardest part about trying to sell the stuff- getting the confidence and nerve!

oh yeah, i'm also going to make my sister brittany an employee of "vanessa means butterfly inc."! he was helping me make some cards last night and it was really great to have the extra hands. she's very ocd and, well, sometimes it's hard to get her to understand what you're trying to explain, but once she does, and she's on board, she sticks with it, and follows it through to the end. so it's not like she's going to make a ton of money, and she knows that, but she enjoys crafts and card making, and we get along good, so i'm hoping it will work out well to have her help out.
