[Background]Nogami Airi-- a sweet woman, the main character's older sister, runs a coffee shop-- used to have a fiancé named Sakurai Yuuto. They were in love and everything seemed perfect-- until that day when Sakurai mysteriously vanished. This is the same Sakurai Yuuto, except not-- he's ten years younger, having time traveled to the present time from a decade ago. The younger Yuuto made a deal with his older self [henceforth known as Sakurai] to go into his own future and help out with the battle there by transforming into Kamen Rider Zeronos.
Yuuto's job in the series is to help the main character, Ryoutarou, fight the Imagin. Imagin are monsters that bond themselves to a human and grant whatever wish that human asks, usually by twisting the logic of the wish horribly. Once the wish is granted, the Imagin can connect to the person's memories and use that to jump into the past, and subsequently wreak havoc. Yuuto and Ryoutarou have to fight these monsters and prevent them from wrecking the timeline.
Alternatively, there are a few Imagin that are oddballs and aren't interested in granting wishes, and instead stick around their bonded humans for a while. Yuuto has one of these, a sweet and dorky Imagin named Deneb, who is one of the only people he's really close to.
Yuuto has the ability to transform into Kamen Rider Zeronos, but each transformation has a price. He has a limited number of cards given to him by Sakurai that he can use for this purpose, and each time he uses one to transform, people from his time lose their memories of him. Later on in the series, after he runs out of these cards, he uses a different type of card that will make people from the present timeline he's in forget about him as well. Because of this sacrifice, Yuuto doesn't have bonds with very many people.
This becomes an important plot point when it is noted that the restoration of the past timeline after the Imagin have destroyed it depends on people's memories; in other words, if there is someone that nobody remembers, then that person will disappear. This is potentially bad for Yuuto.
So, this is the situation Yuuto is in when he arrives in his own future, our present, you get the picture. At first he's rather wary of the whole situation and keeps his distance; in particular, he doesn't like Ryoutarou and his clumsiness. Along the way, though, the two of them both grow a bit, and Yuuto warms up to Ryoutarou-- not that he'll ever admit it. He also visits Airi's coffee shop every so often, where he runs into his future fiancée. Airi at this point has forgotten about her fiancé Sakurai, so he's not familiar to her; despite that, she warms up to him, and he grows a fondness for her, although there's always a bit of sadness lingering there.
At the end of the series, after the Imagin are defeated, Yuuto and Deneb leave for their own time in the past. This doesn't mean that they're not still helping out, however; in the movie the two of them return to help out a bit.
[Personality]Yuuto has several layers to his personality that aren't always evident. Most of the time, he just acts like a jerk: rough, unfriendly, and generally pissed off at the whole world. A lot of time this personality is a defense-- it's easier when people forget about him if he doesn't get attached. Because of this, Yuuto is often a loner, and doesn't really form close relationships with many people. [If he really just doesn't like you, though, he won't hide that fact.] This tough personality of his is significantly different from the older Sakurai, whom Ryoutarou remembers as being gentle and sweet.
Because of the way he usually acts toward people, Deneb usually makes it his duty to explain Yuuto's true feelings. When he possesses Yuuto [as Imagin can do to their bonded human], he's always telling Ryoutarou and the others that Yuuto doesn't mean it, he really just wants to be friends, etc., as well as acting overly friendly to people. Yuuto hates it when Deneb does this, and always ends up getting into a mock-fight with him over it. Yuuto still has his pride, and he doesn't like people knowing of his "true" feelings, whether it's the truth or something Deneb makes up.
While he usually displays a tough front, Yuuto does tend to act differently around the people he's close to. If you're one of these few people, he'll generally let you know it by being more open with you. After a while of getting to know him, he's able to be casual around Ryoutarou; he's also able to display more of his gentle and dorky side toward Airi, whom he does grow fond of after a while in spite of himself. Perhaps the most significant of these changes, though, is with Deneb, the one person he truly feels close to. When he's together with Deneb, wheither it's just them or in public, Yuuto tends to act more childish-- getting mad at Deneb because he puts shiitake in the cooking, and other such things. Yuuto is incredibly close to Deneb; when he thinks that Deneb has disappeared from the timeline and is gone forever, Yuuto doesn't care anymore, he's just outright crying. Deneb's probably the one person who sees all of Yuuto's true feelings.
It's worth noting that Yuuto can act a bit spoiled and childish at times anyway; he's rather picky about food, and always adds a ton of sugar to Airi's coffee. He's also very stubborn-- once he's decided something, he won't back down from it. The most notable example of this is his determination to fight; after he runs out of cards to transform with, he goes and gets more from Sakurai, and joins in the fight again despite the fact that he'll be forgotten even more. This is not because he's okay with being forgotten or disappearing-- far from it. He's not a martyr, nor does he want to be one; as he says himself, "I'm strong and I have good luck." Rather, he does this because he's determined to do whatever he can to help with the fight. Even if he'll be forgotten, even if he'll disappear, even if he has mixed feelings about these things happening, he made a promise to fight and he is going to fight until the very end, dammit.
[Specialties/Abilities] Ability to transform into Zeronos, as mentioned, and subsequently kick monster ass. He's also pretty capable in a regular fight.
[Affection] Yuuto's not gonna like it if you try to act overly friendly when he doesn't know you, but that can't stop anyone from trying~ He'll take a while to open up, though, and don't expect a romance.
[Fighting] Again, Yuuto can hold his own in a fight, so go right ahead~ As always, though, let me know if you're gonna kill him or something. XD
