Name: Anne "Xion" Maxwell
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts

About 358/2 Days
Background:
It all ended where it all began, really. With Organization XIII.

Not XIV.

Although that was the number that she was designated. Xion was born to be nothing more than a tool at the disposal of the Organization. While on the outside she performed the duties of a typical member, her true purpose would come to be by the end of Roxas' time in the Organization. She's arguably the one who ended up being the final nail in the coffin to Roxas' hate for the group.

Xion was created through Vexen's experimentation, the first replica of his program albeit incomplete. It's still arguable whether she has a heart or not (Typical Nomura). On the outside, she's a nobody-- although what she looks like depends on who's looking at her. This is due to the base of her existence: Sora's memories. Despite this, the memories of the Kairi (one of Sora's best friends) that Sora knew end up fleshing out Xion with a face of her own to many people-- or they just see her as the hooded girl. Axel did until he decided to befriend her. Regardless, Xion was created for the purpose of using the boy, Sora, taking his power and inexplicable ability to wield the keyblade, a special weapon designated to a chosen bearer that could release the hearts of creatures known as heartless. And with these hearts released, they would find their way to a heart-shaped moon known as Kingdom Hearts. A doorway to their wish for completeness. For the members of Organization XIII had all lost theirs hearts, their ability to feel emotions. And their ability, then, to be human. And they desperately wanted that back.

Xion started out as a blank slate. She developed over time though due to her close approximation with Roxas. The two befriended each other when they started going on missions together, traversing many worlds through the use of dark corridors, or portals. It was through Roxas that she also met and befriended Axel. For a while, every day was shared doing missions either for recon or heart collection and eating ice cream at the clock tower. Yet, shortly after Xion's first encounter with Riku did problems begin. Not long after, she had difficulty with her keyblade, no longer being capable of summoning it. At another point, she fell unconscious as Roxas had for days on end. Saix, the Organization's second in command, also called her broken and useless to the Organization, which only served to pull her down.

At one point, she finally met Riku again who gave her more answers about herself than anyone else had. He was Sora's best friend-- and told her of his fate. That Sora wouldn't awaken without the memories. Memories that Xion had (and were the reason for her and Roxas' sudden comas). Although Xion argued that her friends needed her and she needed them, too, she still was shaken. Still, it wasn't until the Organization began to pit her and Roxas against one another... and him weakening due to her, that Xion decided she had to go back. She met with the memory witch, Naminé, who was responsible for ensuring that Sora's memories were safely pieced back into place. The one who told her that due to her state of being? Were she to return the memories, since they were her base, Xion would disappear. And with that, so too would any memory of her in anyone's heart or mind. Desperate not to destroy Roxas and perhaps partly guilty by what she was doing to Sora, Xion decided to return. Before she had the chance though, she found out that someone had followed her and went out to face them despite Naminé's pleas. She was confronted by Axel at the mansion and where he barely defeated her and brought her back to the Organization. There, she was believed to have been reprogrammed. When she returned to the clock tower that day, it was for the last time.

There, she engaged Roxas in a brutally jarring deathmatch. Forcing him to either submit or be destroyed, her friend had no choice but to fight back-- which was partly her plan all along... but no doubt the reprogramming might have had something to do with it as well. In the end, she was defeated. As she bid farewell to her best friend who couldn't remember her, she left him with a request to free the hearts of Kingdom Hearts and undone her mistakes. Shortly thereafter, she dissipated into crystal fragments of Sora's memories, meant to return to him while everyone... would forget she even had existed. Her end. But yet, perhaps. For Xion. It was only the beginning.

Are you taking this character from a another RP? Nope!

Personality:
Pensive, reflective, yet steadfast in her wishes.

While Xion may come off as coy and socially awkward to those she just gets to know, past that introverted nature lies a warm, complex being. She may be replica, or "puppet" as some would call it, but she certainly doesn't seem like one. She smiles, laughs, broods, acts out, and everything in between. To just refer to her as one word would generalize her just as much as anyone else.

Despite this initial attitude, Xion is surprisingly fiercely independent. This perhaps is complimented by those whose memories she shares. Both Sora and Kairi have their stubborn tendencies, after all. And a strong willingness to handle things on their own. Roxas no doubt influences her as well. It's not that she doesn't trust her friends. She just doesn't wish to burden them, especially with all the insecurities that she has.

Throughout most of her lifespan with The Organization, Xion was constantly putting the pieces together as to the reason why she existed in the first place. What was she, even? These were answers that The Organization itself never gave her, so she had to seek them out through her own means. This mainly stemmed from her meeting with Riku, but with Xion's personality, it was only really a matter of time otherwise. Or so it may be speculated at least. This was information she highly valued-- reasons and knowledge are important to her. So much that she'll leave her friends behind to seek them out herself.

That may lead people to believe that she doesn't trust her friends at all, but that's not the case. Xion puts a lot of faith in them. She just... puts a lot more in herself to be able to handle things. In a way, it makes her brash and perhaps unconsciously cynical-- 'No one can help me by myself', so to say. While relying on others isn't wrong, it makes her feel weak, useless. Disposable. And she hates that feeling.

Even past this though, it's not like she never gives things good thought. In fact, Xion's always thinking. Always. It's like she couldn't stop even if she wanted to. She's naturally very reflective. Exhaustively so, even. A lot of it stems from her origins, perhaps. Despite her travels, she's not very worldly when it comes to dealing with what might seem as common sense to them. It's like half hers was "lost" when in truth she just doesn't carry even half the memories that she was supposed to purposefully collect. So, she might know what a database is yet she couldn't describe what a library is to you.

This, of course, leads into her melancholic nature. Xion's quick to take the blame and will often brood over things, even if they are out of her control. She comes off as someone with a lot of empathy. Even if she might think she is trying to do her best and make the right choices, it doesn't take much for guilt to overwhelm her. The people she cherishes always come before anything else in her mind. So, when she hurts them, it eats away at her indefinitely until she's certain that she's made it up to them. But, even then, it doesn't take much for her to shoulder the blame again if she's reminded. It's just how she is.

Even past all her melancholy, Xion does carry a warm side to her. When she opens up to her friends, she more than welcomes, jokes, jeering, and gentle banter. She'll laugh and tease and smile with her friends. This is something that perhaps has been muffled some due to her guilt, but it is a side of her that comes about when she's comfortable and happy.

The other more rare side of the coin is her anger. Xion doesn't typically display this, but it is something that she's capable without doubt. Her first encounter with Riku can attest to it. It's even less likely that she'll showcase it now, more prone to brooding in frustration, but anything that involves having her friends hurt in some way whether physically or otherwise would definitely trigger this side of her.

Personality Differences

While both Xion and Anne actually share quite a variety of personality traits, Anne honestly has more self-worth than her counterpart. She has always been more willing to prove herself otherwise and thus has a quiet respect from her peers. It's not that she's loud or obnoxious. She just carries herself with more of a purpose than Xion does. This was a front she developed to deal with the constant whiplash of her life being tossed from end of the city to the other to the suburbs and beyond. She needed it to make herself feel worthy. Which is also why she has always been so diligent. But she knows that she's worth something to the people she's around.

Xion is very much the opposite. Her worth comes from her friends. Whatever they wish is what she wants. Even if she wants to do something of her choosing, if Roxas or Axel were to be against it in the city, she would stop herself for their sakes. She's very self-sacrificing due to not wanting to burden them as she had before. And this lack of self-worth will be noticed by Anne's friends in her more hesitant and shy nature. Of course, the other part of it is due to Xion's lack of a normal life. And while she will have Anne's memories to go off of as they slowly morph and mesh with her own, that doesn't necessarily mean that she will understand all of them just like when she used to see Sora's memories. But they will definitely be a helpful guide for her.

Another thing to note would be that Xion will have a tendency to close out people and solve her own problems-- where as Anne would be more willing to seek out her friends. Because she knows she could trust them. Xion, however, doesn't want to use Anne's friends. Part of her really doesn't want to play the charade. Both because it's Anne's life and partly because it really hurts her to not be seen for herself. Although she's too guilt ridden to act for her own interests.

It might be also important to note that Xion doesn't really have a concept of age or gender-- so these will be two interesting elements alone to play off of.

Appearance Changes (if applicable): Long hair-- at least at first. She'll be prone to cut it because it feels strange. No organization coat. Just regular street clothing like jeans and t-shirts-- although most of her tops have hoods for fiddling purposes. She always, always wears sneakers instead, too. Which she'll find extremely comfortable in comparison.
She will retain her Kairi look alike form at all times as opposed to her appearance changing by the way everyone perceives her.)

Powers/Abilities:
*She will not be capable of these right away due to her timeline, but she will pick them up once she has been in contact with Roxas.

Keyblade
A weapon that choses its wielder. Capable of sealing worlds and freeing hearts.

Sham or not, due to Sora's power being absorbed into her own being, Xion has become capable of calling on this to aid her. And since her time during the Organization revolved around destroying heartless of many varieties, Xion fights proficiently later on as seen in her defeat of Xigbar and how Axel barely managed to bring her back to the Organization's home front before collapsing into unconsciousness.

She holds it two-handed usually and tends to make wide arced strikes. Her fighting style comes off often as one of desperate but focused offense. She might appear clumsy, but it is that very first impression that just serves to give her an edge over an opponent unknowing of her true abilities.

The keyblade itself is large enough both to serve well in packing a lot of punch as well as taking a beating instead of its wielder. The pummel is perfect for blocking attacks since it's ridiculously wide although she's more likely to use the blade itself to defend herself. Because it's naturally attune to magic as well, she can channel stronger spells of various varieties through it. The keyblade's most intense strength as far as magic goes is its own light induced properties, giving her a strong combination of wide area of effect attacks at the cost of quickly exhausting her. One ability to note is actually the same one that Roxas himself uses: Event Horizon. Just like his, she can only use it as a safety net sort of move and it quickly exhausts her, but it's very efficient when desperate times call for desperate measures.

Also to be noted is that the keyblade acts basically like a skeleton key. Most things with lock-holes can be either locked or unlocked with it unless there is a magic that counteracts the attempt. It is still arguable whether her own can or can't seal worlds, but considering there are no worlds to do that with in Haven, it's a moot point.

Because her powers were absorbed by Roxas, she will regain this weapon through him.

Magic (See Days Section) -
While the other Organization members specialize in one specific element (such as Axel to fire and Vexen to ice), Xion is capable of four different offensive arts including Fire, Thunder, Aero, and Blizzard. She has can produce the healing spell, cure. All of these spells have three different to them that produce more powerful or skillful results. Second level spells end in -ra. Third in -aga.

Back home where she could get a hold of ethers, she could easily replenish her mana. But in the modernized world of Re_Fated where such things are non-existent, she can only cast so many of them before she has to resort to physical force. And on top of that, since magic isn't something of the world, too, really, the power of her spells have been reduced to their basic level until she ever gets a hold of shards. Because of this, Xion's more likely to use her keyblade.

Extra Misc. Info

Also to be noted is that Xion basically mirrors Roxas' acrobatic tendencies-- and, well. Basically any of his abilities that he has she is able to do, herself. Such as air sliding, gliding for short periods, dodge rolling (self-explanatory), and aerial recovery (able to bounce back mid-air time after being hit and thrown in the air). About the only thing she hasn't mirrored is his ability to dual-wield-- and for a striking reason. Considering he was granted it when he absorbed her powers.

Jewel Backlash: Alternate Forms

Like it's been noted, implanting jewels would come with both a gain and a brutal price. On one side, she will have the edge of stronger attacks, her speed will increase, and she will gain abilities from the forms she once took as a replica depending on how many shards she has. One might give her first form abilities. Three might lead her to second form. And so on and so forth. These will give in an edge against whatever she has to face, but then there is a cost to it.

While it wouldn't reprogram her-- because being in Anne's body, she's no longer physically a replica, the shards themselves seem to have a nasty side effect that works just as well: taking her most terrifying conscious memory and making it a reality. If she loses control, she will actually revert to her forms physically which she became when she fought Roxas for the last time. And, of course, with the form change, the longer she's in it, the less likely she will be of reverting back to her sane self. The more shards she implants, the greater the danger of this as she ends up taking stronger and stronger forms. With her final form, she will more than likely have to be taken out by her own companions to regain her senses-- ala near brink of death. Hope you know a good cure spell.

Family Situation: "Anne" was raised by her mother and father for a few years before a car accident took her father (to which she, herself, has no recollection of since she was so young). This tragedy sent her mother spiraling downwards and Anne herself haphazardly being handed over to her grandmother on her mother's side for the time being. Years went by with sporadic visits from her mother, but no matter what, it just seemed that she couldn't get over losing her husband. Years, later, when Anne was seven, her grandmother peacefully passed away in her sleep.

With her mother still unwell, Anne found herself carted between relatives that just simply did not want her due to being the child of her father. It wasn't until that point that Anne realized how many never liked her father and actually blamed him for what had happened to her mother-- and that dislike unfortunately made her out to be a scapegoat since his blood ran in her veins. Years went by and while she wasn't exactly mistreated like the horror stories tell, she was often a ghost in quite a few houses. Just simply doing her chores and then wandering off to do whatever. That led her to becoming quite a daydreamer. She would spend hours upon hours reading books borrowed from the school library and just losing herself in other worlds. This often led her to write stories. They weren't complex or anything. Just a tale of a girl and her best friend that traveled the worlds and fought wicked cool fights and whatnot.

Finally though, it seemed that word of her shuffling had gotten through to her father's side. And while his side was smaller than her mother's, someone was interested in actually adopting her. Her Aunt and Uncle that she was staying with seeing it as an opportunity to hand her off, graciously accepted the idea. After much negotiations, background checks, visitations, and all, Anne was adopted by her father's best friend, Zack. Zack had always valued his friendship with her father. In fact, they might as well have been brothers for how strong their bonds were. And when had finally realized that his friend's kid was doing as poorly as he heard, Zack wanted nothing but to be there for her like he knew his best friend would have been. It also helped that he had always wanted a kid but nothing ever added up with his relationships.

Zack and Anne clicked like it should have been that way from the start. While at first everything felt awkward and new, earning her the fond nickname "Space Cadet", Anne warmed up to him quick. Before she realized it, they were spending their afternoons playing video games together, going on outings, or just doing those boring mandatory shopping trips which were spiced up with shopping cart races and the like as Anne got older. With that strong bond at home, Anne seemed to find an energy to herself that she hadn't had before, a bravery that made it easier to make friends at school-- especially now that she wasn't moving everywhere. But because of her prior lifestyle and the opportunity of having a parent figure that actually cared for her as much as Zack did, she found herself still spending plenty of time with him while other teenagers would be off hanging out with friends.

This has led to Anne having more in-school friends than out of school. But even so, the friends she has made are close to her and would go out of their way without a second thought. Even after her last school was closed due to the district condensing things, Anne has had the fortune of knowing that most of her friends are going to the school she's being transferred to. Unfortunately, little did she know that the boy she had that awkward incident at the beach with would be in quite a few of the same classes with her. A boy that appears inexplicably like Xion's former best friend, Roxas.

Important People:
Roxas & Axel
Xion's best friends. She always valued them above anything else. And she will miss them dearly the longer she stays in the city. Although were she to encounter them again there, she would be ridden with guilt on so many different levels because of what she did to them. Because she forcibly frayed their friendships. Honestly, she feels like even if by miracle they would be reunited, she wouldn't deserve that friendship. However, because she always holds more value to them than herself, if it meant them being happy, she would stick with them.

Zack Matheson
Anne's guardian. He loves her more than anything in the world, but it's really no surprise considering how little he gets to see his friends and family (due to distance and finances). He always wanted a family but never had much luck with the opposite gender, so he was honestly really grateful to be able to adopt her. Zack's very funloving and friendly, willing to go out of his way for others without a hitch. He's also a little on the over-protective side of things with Anne sometimes. But he can't help himself.

Zack works in construction, specifically road work although with his years of experience he has been able to adjust his schedule to befit all those lovely child service requirements. He owns a nice sized apartment that he shares with just her. Although he fails tries to have a lady friend over every so often.

Clara and Robin
Two of Anne's closest friends back from her old school who will be transferring in with her to the new one. Clara is a sweetheart who enjoys books just as Anne does although she's a lot more avid and open about her hobbies. She will openly voice her interests with warmth and excitement and want to get her friends involved in her interests with an energy that always gets Anne to cave. They like to collaborate with stories although they have never actually finished any together. And probably never will.

Robin, on the other hand, is the odd athlete that somehow got involved with them. At least that's what most people would think on the outside. But inside their small trio, she is just as much into stories as they are. Although she's not a very good writer herself, she's a fan of their work and always ends up offering good suggestions. Being the most outdoorsy of them though, Robin is the one that makes sure that they aren't lazying it up like couch potatoes and go out to goof around. If not to play sports than at least to wander around the streets of the city and talk.

Both of her friends are also really into video games and they tend to play a lot of them online when they're not caught up doing other things or being responsible. Xion will be in for a surprise in regards to that, actually.

Sora
Although Xion never knew him personally, he should be noted because of his considerable impact on her. Sora was the whole reason why Xion was created, after all. He is the foundation of her and Roxas and the only reason they ever existed. And while Xion has her fears and doubts of who he is, she has seen portions of his memories before and is curious about him. Were he to show up in Haven, she would probably wish to speak with him and try to understand all this crazy business between them.

Job: Since she is only fifteen, Anne doesn't have any job to speak of. Instead, she goes to a public school where she makes actually pretty good grades because she's always, always been curious about the world-- a fitting trait for the nature of Xion herself. And despite her daydreamer attitude, Anne underneath has always felt like she needs to find value in herself-- which explains her diligence with her school work. When Xion herself gets there though, her grades are definitely going to suffer at first. Because she has been living a life in the Organization. Her friends in school will also notice that she's a lot more socially awkward and lost both in what to say and in her thoughts in general. Fortunately, her prior persona was always a daydreamer, so they could take it as such-- but her different speech pattern. More uncertain than before. That will definitely be a curious development.

First Person Sample:

I don't even really understand why I'm writing this out on here. I mean it's not like I even need to keep a journal anymore. I'm not going back. I can't anyway. I mean how am I even here? And that letter... Something really bothers me about it.

For one, the explosion. It... killed those people. And that... These memories that aren't my own. From what I've grasped, they tell me it's like being destroyed. That... makes me really sad. The thought of them being destroyed. It's really unsettling.

But that's not just it. The jewel shards. Something about them really bothers me. Like it's Kingdom Hearts all over again. Being told to collect them without being given a clear reason. I'm guessing they're dangerous. But what if someone is behind all of this just because they want to use me? And anyone else involved?

I guess the only way I'll get my answers though is if I do what's asked. I'm just not sure where to start. And on top of it, there's so many different things going on. Zack's taking me for a check up in the morning. I guess that gives me time to better understand where I am because he said that I'll be missing school tomorrow. I'm not sure exactly what that is or if I would have been ready for it then anyway. But it sounds like something important.

I guess I'll remember when I go there. For now, I should probably get some rest, so I can face Zack tomorrow as "Anne". It still really bothers me. All of this. But everything always seems out of my control anyway, doesn't it.

Third Person Sample:

Another day. Another dream, it felt. Her mind still floated on echoes of past conversations, tidal waves of rapid words, rising gasps of questions spun in a whirlpool of denial, of weathered acceptance, of a maelstrom of rushed fate. She left her eyes closed and twitching while her hand flexed with spread fingers to lightly touch her face. It wasn't like the first time she had awoken there. With frightened eyes staring down at her of people she didn't know. Zack. He had been the first person she saw, shaking her awake. Shouting at her that he couldn't believe she had done something so stupid. Xion, herself, was just as lost as he had been-- Who was he? Where was she? Was this the place you went to when you faded? But wasn't she supposed to...? All those questions while he rambled on mercilessly in anxiety until suddenly--

'Are you listening to me, Anne?'

And she had stared at him dumbly a moment. And then a part of her had nodded for her. Even when she knew for certain that she had no idea who this man was. That had been the start of this sudden very new and very real situation. He had taken her with him shortly afterward. Because he had to make sure she was alright. Saying something half-jokingly about how they might be better off cutting out trips to the beach for a while. First, she had nearly drowned. Now, she had not paid attention to where she was going at all and some punk kid on a skateboard had run her down on the boardwalk. Xion had tried to stand then only for her world to go hazy and dizzying a moment, something pounding in her ears, throbbing in her chest. 'Whoa, whoa. Easy there', his voice had coaxed.

And before she could protest, he had picked her up and carried her along a while until he had finally reached his destination. And then he was placing her in something strange that he controlled simply by the turn of a wheel. A car-- she found out later over the faint murmur of conversation she had caught as she had laid on the couch in the living room while Zack had talked to someone at the door; he was insisting that it might be best, too, if they came to visit tomorrow because 'Anne' seemed to be a little more out of it than he first thought. Something about taking her for a check up at the hospital just in case because concussions tended to hide themselves away.

Then, as day gave way to night, he had helped her to bed, saying he would check up on her first thing that morning, 'quiz her' about things. About Anne. Something she had turned over and over in her head like the cell phone she had found in her pocket. Until she had gotten curious enough to open it. And from there, her hands seemed to ghost through it to that message. The one message that just left her with more questions than answers. She had drifted off shortly afterward.

Now, she lay awake just trying to sort through the dream she thought she had dreamed-- only to realize that it wasn't a dream but.. Just as it had happened with Sora's memories, so to was she seeing the memories of 'Anne' now. Flickering through her mind's eye. It was an ironic, cruel fate. But, she realized, for now she would have to play the part until its end. As she always had. Because she wouldn't ruin the life of this girl. And somewhere deep down... a little contrived part of her maybe wanted to try and lead this life while she had the chance.
