Happy New Year Phoenix Wright fic

Dec 31, 2009 23:40

It's 11.18pm right now and what better way to conclude the wonderful year of 2009 than with fic? I was bored with being stuck at home so I asked silverymare for a prompt; my first drabble ever. I don't why I hesitated writing them because they've ended up being so fun! :D

Title: Rise and Shine
Fandom: Phoenix Wright
Characters: Mainly Trucy and Phoenix.
Summary: Trucy wakes to gritty eggs and bacon, sour orange juice and some colourful words.
I was given 500 words minimum and having to include the quote, "Zack is a jerk" in some form. This ended up so not as daunting and hard as I thought. Hope you like it~ and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! :)

Daddy always told her that mornings were most important.

He told her that since they were the first meals of the day they deserved to be the biggest, and that the way to achieve it came from a hearty three-course of gritty eggs, bacon, bangers and mash and teeth-staining coffee. Of course Trucy being the quiet smart girl she was, knew that this wasn’t exactly true and to some extent knew the danger of it to the body. But if her Daddy said so then she had a good reason to overlook the side effects.

No matter how long his hours lasted at the pub the night before she could count on waking up to the crackle of sausages being emptied into the bubbling pan. A grin lit her face as she heard him yell when the oil spat back at him; despite the countless times she told him not to throw them in.

The shouting stopped promptly afterwards when he realised his only daughter who he’d gone through all the fuss of waking up early with a hangover to cook a feast that caused heart-attack for was still trying to sleep, and that all his efforts would be wasted if she was to hop downstairs at that moment. However Trucy continued to lay in her cosy little bed, fully awake and listening to her father’s efforts to cook. She'd enjoy the moment quietly.

These moments always managed to be interesting as she soon discovered; it seemed every day her father would add a new word to the plethora of bad terminology already adopted from him. It almost felt like a game to see if she knew today’s word, or tomorrow’s, and it gave her something to look forward to after rising from her slumber.

She couldn’t remember the last time when the nightmares had stopped, but she knew that it had been a long time since they started, maybe even when she first met Daddy. She’d never admit it but she was frightened that her memories were disappearing from before that time, as if someone snuck into her bedroom and stole parts of it in her sleep.

Her father had always been there when she’d awaken crying; he would lend his big sleeve to wipe her dripping nose clean and slowly coax her into closing her eyes again. She was scared that one night the big-cloaked man would come and drop her down a bottomless hole. The only thing she would see was his fading top hat instead of a steady arm ready to catch her.

So when her eyes opened to the glaring sunlight she was overjoyed to hear the familiarity of his voice, as if it locked the gates to her terrifying thoughts and hid them from her view. Thinking back to the mysterious magician she’d pull a face and feel achieved at defeating him. That day she’d also been able to hear a fresh word; “jer-k” as Daddy had charmingly yelled, and felt she should serve it justice if she used it too.

Pushing the covers away she promptly strolled to the bathroom and took out several band-aids before skipping downstairs, humming softly.

The big, bad magician is a jerk!

This year has been great. and so eventful compared to the last ones. I can only expect that 2010 will live up to its expectations :D. I hope that I'll be able to write more fic, read more books, play more games, watch more animes, cook more meals, make more friends and make my life even better. :3

Btw, did you guys celebrate today? My family feasted on crabs and clams and I discovered that I am not one for clams :S. I'm still pondering my New Years Resolution; is it bad luck if we share them?

Once again Happy New Year; welcome to 2010 everyone! =)

celebrations, happy new year
