Doesn't a fairytale have to be sort of...traditional, like, passed down through word of mouth all over the place? To count? And to have a clearly discernable good/evil, the latter of which is overcome? All the examples you listed are like that, except for Alice. :)
Sorry, it's a lovely post! <3 It just always niggles at me a little when people say Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass are fairytales. n_n'' Regardless I feel like I've learnt something new, I always like that feeling!
Yes I was a little hesitant to put it down, it just appeared a lot of times in my research. I don't really consider it a fairy tale, but its arguable :/ I was also kind of hesitant with Swan Lake.. but the back story is very fairy tale (:
Oh, you mean because Swan Lake started as a ballet? You know, I didn't know that before (just looked it up after reading your comment)! I guess I always assumed it was a story beforehand, it really does seem like one upon first impressions!
Now I feel like listening to some Tchaikovsky, haha! :)
Mmmmm Tchaikovsky sothes the soul (: And yeah thats the season - but I still think of it as a fairy take even though it is a Ballet (: - I'd love to see it in London one day *w*
