Concerns about our group.

I am so sorry about the lateness in posting here, but as some of you already know, I've had a difficult time lately, as well as being busy moving several of my sites ( Read more... )

I don't think LJ will be banning or deleting this group anytime soon (or at all), however I know that I am planning on moving to another jouranling grou (keeping my LJ as unpaid to track events here), because I'm not going to support LJ's business.

If you have an account on GJ, you may want to consider joining our mirror group there, just in case something happens.

my thoughts: stay here, back up weekly using an LJ tool that will allow migration to another LJ code site. also, encourage people who do migrate to set up RSS feeds at their destination to facilitate cross-communication. make certain those feeds are widely shared.

Yes at the moment although there are problems I think it's okay to stay here for now. Use the backup to crosspost everything.

And keep fingers crossed.

That's what I'm plannning to do with ds_weekly from the end of this week.

I'm mostly a lurker on this group, so feel free to ignore me, but I think probably the best thing to do is either, back up a lot, and post the back ups to alternate journaling sites and/or, keep an eye out to see if fandom manages to make up it's mind, and then encourage everyone here to move and probably close this LJ down to try and help make the move complete.

Although, chances of fandom ever collectively making up their mind: 1% :P

Paraka, thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts about this.

You've given me a lot of ideas to think over.

Take care now and thank you again.

No problem :)

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, or if you'd even want to try (you'd probably want to speak to the members first) but there are programs out there that allow you to copy all of the old entries here, and have them posted at an LJ clone (like Greatest Journal, or Insane Journal). I did it last night with my personal journal, but I know there's an option for communities too. It doesn't work on comments, and of course the names are transferred directly so "bob" on LJ may be "phil" on GJ or not exsist, or there may already be a bob who'd be getting "credit" but it would help preserve the comms history.

(If you'd like the link to this program let me know)
