I flipped a coin, and heads said Hawaii, tails said New Zealand, as the places recommended to me as good places to land if I were to fly away. Since the coin came up with a picture of the Kitty Hawk flight in North Carolina rather than George Washington, the land of Lord of the Rings is now on my itinerary. (Thanks, Colin.) Bring a notebook, something to write in. You never know what will occur to you and sometimes the best inspiration for anything comes from the newness of things you've never seen.

I've actually got an interesting double-sided notebook/sketchbook that I like -- with the right side set for writing things down, and the left side for sketchwork. I may end up filling it, if N.Z. is as amazing as Colin says. Which it probably is, he doesn't steer me wrong.
