Soi Fong still doesn’t quite know why she’s out walking the streets this evening. The weather is a bit colder than she’d like, and though she’s more than capable of taking care of any trouble she might run into, she knows what can happen at night around here, and would prefer to not get in the middle of anything outside of her normal work. And besides, it’s not in her routine. For some reason, she had decided to give up an hour of her reading time to aimlessly wander.
Lost in her thoughts, she barely notices the only other person on the street, the dark skinned girl with purple hair, who seems to be coming straight for her. Her first thought is that she’s been targeted, and her hand slips gracefully back into her sleeve, sliding over the cool steel of Suzemebachi. Her eyes remain locked on the concrete beneath her feet, not wanting to give away that her attacker had been noticed. As they approach, she can feel herself freeze, her stomach knotting. The woman…no, it couldn’t be. It had been a long time since their last meeting, but not long enough, and she still had not planned out how the next one would go. And the last unplanned meeting had not gone well. The other woman continues walking, lightly brushing against her, not enough to make her stumble, but enough that she can’t ignore it. Enough to tease her memories, the memories that have tortured her for all these years.
And just as quickly as she’s there, the woman is gone. Soi spins on her heels, scanning the empty streets, completely losing her composure. Yoruichi-sama…no, it wasn’t her. It was an illusion. Her mind playing tricks on her. It wasn’t for another few seconds that she felt her heart pounding in her chest. Had she been afraid to run into the woman from her past? A scowl forms on her face, clearly showing that she was upset at her moment of weakness. Luckily nobody had been around to see it. She quickly turns back and headed back towards her home, regretting her decision to head out. Tonight would be a constant reminder in her mind of why she had a schedule.
