Aoi/Uruha, one-shot, "Infatuated."

Oct 14, 2008 17:49

"I lost my virginity, can I have yours?"

With a slap across the cheek and a disgruntled noise Aoi had never felt more infatuated. The blonde pushed his glasses up and grabbed his friend's arm, whose eyes were set on a goof across the room, and pulled him away. Aoi's friends laughed at the obvious rejection and when the brunet turned around, red-cheeked and smiling like an idiot, they were gasping for breath, unable to stop the contagious noise coming from their mouths. The blonde and his friend, however, couldn't find the funny side of it and left their food on the cafeteria table, half eaten with a loss of appetite.

----------

The blonde, Aoi was sure his name was Uruha, was reaching into his locker after lunch, preparing for his next class. Aoi swayed in the passing traffic of students, eyes never leaving the blonde beauty, not even for a second. Uruha's books were piled in one arm by the time he closed his locker, threatening to fall if not put down in the next few minutes. Aoi waltzed his way over, and leaned on a locker next to the blonde himself.

"Need some help there?"

All he got in reply was the back of a blonde head and a hasty exit. Aoi nodded to himself and brought one hand up to rake through his hair. As the bell signaling the beginning of class rang, Aoi could still be found leaning on the locker next to an imaginary blonde figure.

----------

That night Uruha was lying on his bed, stomach down and elbows on a pillow in front of him. One hand held a phone to his ear, the other hand held his chin. He sighed and rolled over onto his back as his friend started talking about that failure of a student - Miyavi or something of the sort. Miyavi was all Kai could talk about after that time he lent that crazy boy a pen and he had chewed the living daylights out of the end of it. Uruha didn't think it was so great - if he let someone borrow a pen he didn't expect it back with imprints of teeth on it.

Uruha reached across the floor for his bag, dragging in onto the bed with him and pulled out his math book. He might as do his homework while he pretended to listen to his friends lovesick gushing. He lay back on his stomach, let his book rest on the pillow and tapped his pen on the page as he worked out an equation.

"So do you know that guy?"

"Mmhmm."

"Oh, okay. Really?"

"Mmhmm."

"Cool. 'Cause it sure looked like he knew you."

"Mmhmm."

"...Are you even listening?"

"Mmhmm."

Kai sighed, knowing very well that it was near impossible to catch Uruha's attention when he was doing his homework. That and he really didn't like to be disturbed when he was busy. He said a quick goodbye and hung up, going back to looking at pictures of Miyavi on his myspace.

----------

In math the next day, the blonde happily laid his finished homework out on his desk. Reita and Ruki both groaned in unison with Aoi as they looked at the blank page that they were too busy - smoking cigarettes and drinking beer - to get around to doing. Aoi stood up, a light bulb practically glistening on his head, and headed forwards towards the blonde.

"Mind if I copy your homework?"

Uruha's book slammed shut and he picked up his pen, pretending to doodle on the front cover. It was a good way, Uruha had decided, to ignore the brunet boy and therefore get rid of him once again. Aoi walked back to his desk, empty handed and ready for a detention for not doing his dreaded math homework. Reita and Ruki laughed once again at the rejection and Aoi flipped them his middle finger before settling back into his seat.

----------

Uruha sighed and rubbed at his eyes as he saw Kai walking towards the table at lunch. Kai was unusually happy, all giggles and grins and even Uruha's 'you only have one dimple' insult couldn't bring him down. The source of that happiness soon came into realization as Miyavi made his way into the cafeteria, pulling peace signs at his friends, aka everyone, along the way. He stopped next to Kai and slid next to him, casually swinging an arm around the other man. Uruha glared at Miyavi, feeling oh, so plain compared to Miyavi's colorful mane of hair and loud clothing. Neither Kai nor Miyavi noticed though, too wrapped up in their friendly canoodling to even remember that Uruha was sitting directly opposite them.

"Oh! Uruha, this is my boyfriend, Miyavi. Miyavi, this is my best friend, Uruha."

"Swell, just swell."

Miyavi simply smiled as Uruha spoke, arm still firmly wrapped around Kai and the blonde couldn't help but divert his eyes from the scene that was playing out in front of him. It's not that seeing Kai's tongue in Miyavi's mouth, or vice-versa, made Uruha uncomfortable, no not at all. It made him extremely uncomfortable.

"What's cookin', good lookin'?" Uruha pursed his lips and got up, not even looking back at the couple making out or that random perverted guy that popped up everywhere.

----------

Reita and Ruki howled in laughter. Aoi couldn't work out whether it was from the beer or the fact that he had been ignored once again by the glasser-wearing blonde guy. Aoi didn't even know much about him, and frankly all he cared about was the fact that he was hot and would look great between his sheets.

"You should- should have seen your- your- your face!"

Aoi scowled at Ruki who was rolling around on the floor, dangerously close to knocking bottles of beer over. Aoi, not being able to get a word in sideways, huffed and left Reita's basement with the intent of getting home and trying to find Uruha's myspace account.

----------

Uruha hung up the phone, irritated with the dial tone he was getting when he was trying to call Kai. Obviously Kai would rather talk to Miyavi than his dear friend of five years, and that suited Uruha just fine because he didn't need Kai either. The blonde had homework to do anyway, and tomorrow he had a detention for not tucking his shirt in.

The blonde got out his math book and started to revise on the new topic they were covering in class. His mind thought back to that brunet and his hyena-like friends - they always seemed to be laughing about something - and he could feel the brunets stare digging a hole in the back of his head everyday. They were weird and immature. Uruha didn't like them.

----------

Uruha ignored Kai the next day. He wouldn't return text messages and walked in the opposite direction once he saw his (former) friend coming towards him. Kai looked upset; Uruha saw the way his brow crinkled and how his eyes skittered around in confusion, often becoming wet. The blonde told himself not to feel bad because this was Kai's fault, so Kai just had to deal with it himself. He had Miyavi anyway.

Exiting detention five minutes before the end of lunch, Uruha made his way to the bathroom. He promptly stopped at the door when he heard the hyena's laughing. Deciding it wouldn't hurt to know what they were talking about Uruha stood cautiously on the outside of the bathroom door and attempted to listen in on their conversation.

"He doesn't look like a girl."

"He- he does! Right, Rei?" Laughing. So much laughing.

"Stop it you guys. Seriously, he doesn't look like a girl."

"He does! Seriously, Aoi," the voice mocked, "he looks like a girl."

Uruha heard a loud bang of one of the cubicle doors being slammed and then Aoi emerged from the bathroom. He looked flushed, like he had been holding his breath, and when his eyes landed on the blonde he almost chocked. Uruha stared back like a deer in the headlights, glared, and then Uruha slapped him. He slapped him hard. Aoi gaped, what had he done wrong?

"He- Hey! It wasn't me who said that!" Aoi yelled after Uruha who was already ten meters down the hall.

----------

"And then they were saying that I looked like a girl!" Uruha said, almost hysterical.

Kai gave the blonde an understanding, sympathetic look and held the ice-cream tub out to him. Kai found Uruha hiding out in the bathrooms after lunch, saying he was 'never going anywhere where boys could be found'. Kai pointed out that it was a male bathroom, but the blonde would have none of that. After being made to apologize to Uruha, they both decided that they would go to the blonde's house after school was out.

Uruha scooped a rather large dollop of ice-cream onto his spoon and shoved it into his mouth, "And that brown-haired guy comes out all innocent!" He tried to say around the frozen treat occupying his mouth.

Kai nodded once again, taking a spoonful for himself.

"So I punched him!" Uruha finished.

Kai looked at him blankly, "You slapped him, didn't you?"

Defeated, Uruha nodded, "Yeah, I slapped him."

----------

When Kai's phone beeped saying he had a text message, Uruha was the first to grab it and greedily read it. He was less than impressed to read 'hey babe, what're you up to?' from none other than Miyavi. Kai blushed mercilessly and Uruha scoffed throwing the phone at him and digging into the ice-cream again.

"You know, Miyavi knows that brunet guy if you want his number."

Uruha almost took a pillow and whacked him, "I do not want his number."

"Oh, well, you talk about him a lot so I just thought that maybe-"

"Kai, for some reason I have a feeling that you want to die right now."

Kai kept his mouth shut after that.

----------

Uruha tried to withstand Miyavi at school. He ignored him when he was practically groping Kai between classes and he smiled carefully when he was spoken to, and god was Uruha relieved when Miyavi kissed Kai's cheek and said 'be right back'.

"I don't know how you can put up with him."

"I like him; he's cute." Kai said proudly.

Uruha almost gagged.

----------

This time Uruha came to the decision that it was the finally straw. All he wanted was to go and see a movie with Kai (without Miyavi) and be happy doing it. When 'Aoi' showed up (with Miyavi) Uruha was ready to rip his own hair out. Kai giggled under his breath when that clown kid declared a 'double date', and Uruha walked out right there and then. Kai managed to catch him when he was just outside the door, saying 'Meevers was only joking'.

Meevers?

Uruha walked faster.

----------

Uruha text messaged Kai that night; when he got the reply of, 'what? Whose this?' he rolled his eyes.

'Uruha, you idiot. Get your head out of the gutter, or better yet, Miyavi's pants.'

'oooh Uruha. So, um, what're you doing?'

Kai was acting a little bit strange, Uruha picked up on, but then again he had been hanging out with Miyavi an awful lot. They talked about school and homework and that stalker boy, and Uruha even admitted that maybe, just maybe, stalker boy would be an okay person if he 'wasn't such a douche bag'.

----------

Uruha was mortified when Kai said that he didn't remember their conversation last night. Uruha asked if he had been drinking or having sex, and with a negative response Kai showed him his mobile phone's inbox and there were clearly no messages from Uruha.

"Isn't this your number?" Uruha held out his phone for Kai to check.

Kai shook his head, "No. So, who were you texting."

Aoi's grin lightened the lunch room and the blonde did all he could to stop himself from lunging at him.

----------

A month later things had changed. Uruha still ignored Aoi for the most part, but occasionally he would say 'hi' in the hallway or even return Aoi's text messages. Kai still denied that he had anything to do with the number swap, but Miyavi always changed the subject before Uruha had the chance to ask if he did it.

The blonde couldn't say whether he liked Aoi or not. Kai said he was only still ignoring him because 'you are the meanest to the people you like the most' and Uruha quickly pointed out the Kai was always nice to Miyavi and always had been.

While walking down the hall that day (more like jogging; he woke up late) Uruha saw Aoi who was waiting by his locker. Raising an eyebrow, he went over and got what he needed, not sparing a glance at the brunet.

"You should come to my party this weekend."

"What's it for?"

"Just, you know, a party for friends. Kai's coming with Miyavi and I thought I would ask you."

Uruha looked at him suspiciously, "I'll think about it."

----------

It was less than comfortable at the party, to say the least. Kai had run off to a bedroom with Miyavi to do god knows what, and he hadn't seen anyone he knew for at least half an hour. So much for 'a party for friends', Uruha was thinking of some quiet music and cookies and milk, but you could hear the music blaring from down the street and the only thing to drink was liquor. Aoi tripped his way over to Uruha, words slurring and drunk at quarter to eight.

"You look fa- fam- fam'liar."

Uruha slapped him, but it took Aoi ten seconds to say 'ouch' and look hurt.

He walked home that night, not bothering to get Kai because the noises outside of the closed door were enough to make him blush, but at least it gave him time to think.

----------

On Monday Uruha could hear the buzz of everyone talking about Aoi's party. He wondered why he didn't see all of these people there, but it probably wouldn't have changed the fact that Aoi was drunk or Kai and Miyavi were having sex. Walking through the school to his locker, Aoi was waiting there. Uruha couldn't deny that he saw Aoi in a different light, even after being a complete idiot while intoxicated, because Aoi was all Uruha could think about while walking home.

"I didn't see you at the party."

"Well I saw you. You were drunk."

"Oh. Reita bought a lot of alcohol."

"I see you drunk it all."

Aoi didn't have time to reply before Uruha closed his locker and walked away, a little bounce in his step.

----------

At lunch, Aoi was nowhere to be seen and it upset Uruha in some sort of way because he really wanted Aoi to come over so he could tease him. It wasn't like he wasn't happy, of course, because Miyavi had guitar practice and Kai was finally acting like his best friend again, but Uruha really, really wanted to see that brunet stalker sort-of-friendly boy. It made the blonde wonder whether Aoi knew this all along and was just waiting for Uruha to come to his senses.

And maybe Kai was right for once. Maybe you really were the meanest to the people you liked the most.

----------

A further three weeks later, Uruha was acting friendlier towards Aoi. Not in an I'm-going-to-be-nice-because-we're-friends way, but in an I'll-giggle-when-I-tease-you-and-actually-listen-to-you way. Uruha was sure Aoi liked it this way more anyway because he knew Aoi liked a chase before the catch, he had told Uruha himself, and that suited Uruha just fine because he liked it that way too.

"I need you to do something for me, Aoi."

"Hmm?"

Uruha loved the way that Aoi hummed in question and in answer, and Uruha was eighty percent sure that Aoi loved the way that Uruha smiled when he did so.

"Soon I might need to give something to you because it's getting too hard for me to control."

"What's that?"

Uruha looked up from the ground to the sky and then his eyes finally landed on Aoi who was sitting next to him on the park bench. It was getting close to sunset and the way the light reflected of Aoi's face made his heart jump.

The blonde smiled cheekily and even though his words came out as whispers, he was sure Aoi heard it by the look on his face, "My virginity."
