(no subject)
Got the idea from zarephathcs! Pictures of my room, even though I've posted them before, and esp. what's on my wall. Because this is the place where I do everything but shower and cook there's a lot of stuff stuffed into it, haha.
My desk + bookshelves. Shit gets pretty messy, I'd like to say it's different when I'm not researching, but it really only is during the holidays when I'm not studying at all.
Next to my window. I bought those ammo purses in Germany a couple years back, my brother found the frame, fixed it up and made me the little plaque below it: Belongs to an unknown soldier.
The clock works, but I don't wind it up because the weights would obviously hit the shelf sooner or later. My father got this from somewhere, I think a family friend. It ook it with me when I moved out. On top it says 'Nu elck syn sin'; now each gets what they want. The Dutch coat of arms is above that, and on the very top there's Atlas.
The mantelpiece next to my desk. I got this at a 'flea market', one of the biggest in Breda, just after I'd moved out. My brother gifted it to me.
The wall above my bed. It's this huge potential, but right now it's still pretty bare. In the middle is a framed poster of Bernini's Apollo + Daphne, bought at the Villa Borghese when I was on exchange in Rome in... Gosh, 2006 or 2005, I can't recall. On the right is a card artillie sent me, on the left a card a friend gave me, it's the genealogy of the Oranjes.
The wall on the other side of my wardrobe (the mantelpiece is on its left), it just holds food and stuff. My brother made the shelves, just like the ones above my desk!
Finally, this is going to be on there at some point. It's a really weird size and I can't find a ready-made frame for it so I'm saving up to have one custom-made. I got it from the lovely lovely themodestotter, who gave it to me when I visited her. I absolutely love it, so I want it to get a good frame so it'll stay good for a long time.
