All a bit juvenile for a Mensa meeting, wouldn't you say? Of the more untamed gatherings I have been privy to, my fondest memory involves a rather raucous debate lasting well into the wee hours of the morning over the existence of higher dimensional objects in string theory against the position that physics is only possible in dimension 3+1. What started as a friendly disagreement soon went from jocular demonstrations of everyone's favorite approximation schemes to rather unruly rabble rousing over the placement of ferbions and branes. It got so out of hand that we ended up pairing off into groups to sketch out our own chromodynamic and supersymmetric models to see who could come up with a superior basis for the existence of the universe. One especially rowdy fellow even tried to argue the dual resonance model of heterotic string interactions! Oh, if Polyakov could've seen us then! Later that same night I was also introduced to new approximations of wife-swapping and anal beadery.

Ah, I remember my young days when string theory seemed worth arguing over!
Sounds like you ran into quite a group there.
