This is true all over the world. In the US MDMA(aka Ecstasy) was rushed through the justice system by the DEA to Schedule 1 status (our highest ranking) so fast it was illegal before anyone could mount a scientific defense, the first time in US history a drug was made illegal without an act of Congress!
