This is so sad. The idea that he lost all opportunity for a secret identity because his parents didn't encourage it and it didn't even occur to him is very heartbreaking. And the ending leaves a little bit of hope that he can get better, but... would the citizens of Metro City even take him seriously if they found out that he was so depressed and wanted out? They've come to rely on him far too much, worshiping him so heavily, and they might not. He's akin to a god to them, and the idea that he'd tried to kill himself is probably too out there for them to comprehend.
Roxanne probably would, tho. ::cuddles Mets:: And Minion, and Megamind when he got it through his thick skull that it was serious.
::HOPEFUL::
ANYWAY. XD This was very well done! You got across Mets' mental state in a very convincing way. I quite enjoyed reading it. ♥

I sure his life would be really lonely.

Before happy or at least moderately hopeful endings at least. So yeah long dark tunnels.... but the light is not an oncoming train more or less.
Plus he doesn't seem to have the friends to be... well normal with.
Thanks for your comment!

You've beautifully brought out the way the hero is the more isolated of the two, and the one with the fewer choices.

Someone with Metroman's powers... well it almost can seem like he only has two choices. Be a superhero or a supervillian. And while yeah he wasn't the best kid and he does have some other issues and all the supervillian thing isn't really him either, so where does that really leave him? If he has the ability to do these things he 'has' to use them almost to some people.
But he's just not happy. Plus he'd have to be careful with his mpowers, losing control is kind of dangerous for someone like him (I mean, look at Hal).
And he doesn't have his own fantastic fish to help him either.
Megamind still has it rough- it's hard too to build something from his past reputation but maybe together they can help each other get to the places they're supposed to be in this universe?

Simply awesome, terrible, and perfect <3

Don't cry. He'll be okay here! Minion knows and eventually megamind will be convinced by that fantastic fish to help.

Phew! Good to know! I was afraid of his destiny!

(Uh. Sorry. Innapropriate icon is all of a sudden SERIOUSLY innapropriate.... )
Um.... definitely a very interesting and well written piece of fic, thankyou thankyou. The poor man often doesn't get enough love because he "abandoned" his city, but there is more to the plight of Metroman than randomly abandoning a city to a villain. You've given us all something more to think about.
As Joanhello said. Far from terrible.

No one wants the job. Metroman drops the job after being the good guy for years. Titan becomes Tighten in no time at all. Megamind has no idea what sort of a job he's really got himself into. But perhaps he'll like the sideprize of the Hero Gets The Girl.
No one is perfect, and I think that is actually one of the (more hidden) morals to this story. Even Superma-[cough] Metroman isn't perfect. Some of us fans even love him all the more for it...
I don't hope he'd come out in the movieverse. I hope he gets a new identity, one just as true, but less demanding, and through it, gets a life. I think, though, that he was addicted to having all those fans and although he's gone cold turkey... I'm not sure that he won't suffer from that. Perhaps he'll get new fans as Music Man.
I have neglected Metroman in my fics. I need to remedy that. Should declare a Metroman Month or something...
btw, I love that Minion was there for him. I really do. Everyone needs a fantastic fish sometimes.
