In Terryville, there's a woman that collects stuffed toys for kids in traumatic situations...I did a story on her once, so I could dig up the contact info if you wanted, but I do know that you can just leave them for her to pick up at Plymouth Town Hall.

bear ministry

My Dad's church (in Vernon) collects stuffed animals for their bear ministry. Basically what happens is they fill their pews with cuddly friends and then when a disaster happens (like rita/katrina) or when someone gets ill, they send well loved (and prayed with) stuffed animals. they send sometimes whole bags full (as in the case of last years hurricanes) or sometimes just one or two. they are really cute and they make a big difference for someone who needs a hug or for kids who have just lost everything.
