If you have some sort of pressing need, leave a message, along with your name and number. I will receive this message. I will call you back. There is absolutely no need to call me again; repeated calls, in point of fact, will dissuade me from getting back in contact with you at all. I would request that you attempt to keep it brief, so as to

Hey, Edgeworth?

It's Joe. I don't know who else to call because I can't find 'Big Bro Mello'.

Maybe you're busy with work or something, but...Noki says in a 'Correctional Facility' and they took her arm off and I'm not sure if she got in trouble at school or if she's gotten kidnapped.

Do you know what to do? She's just a kid and I think she got rough with the other kids, but I'm not really sure what's going on, she said white coats so maybe she's at a SERO hospital someplace?

I...I know what she did. I saw the place in the playground where the police had taped off.

I went down there to find out where they took her away to.

I just want to be sure she can get help, not just...confused and held down. I promised her I'd get help for her.

There will be repercussions for this. You're aware of that, correct?

But I don't think anyone ever explained to her that it's bad to kill people.

That doesn't matter.

So you're saying I can't do anything to help her out. That...they can just do whatever they want to her now? Take her apart? Make her cry? Who's going to protect her?

They are not acting. They are reacting. And while you can limit the scope of the reaction, you cannot prevent it. Nor should you.

Then how can I limit it?

What are they going to do with her?

It depends upon the precise nature of her crime. We still do not know that.

While you wait around for them to decide that, she's still a kid whose really confused and upset that nobody can get to, to stay there with her and help her understand what she did, or to make sure she's getting taken care of right.

And what am I to do with that statement of fact?

Nothing?

You're just useless then.

mentis_reae May 27 2010, 00:54:27 UTC
In that case, what are you?

Not a snotty lawyer who thinks the kid deserves whatever they'll do to 'react', at least.

Believe of me what you will. If you think my actions useless, then very well.
