The more reviews I read on SGU the more I dislike it. Nothing appeals at all. The whole body swapping thing is cringeworthy and none of the characters sound the least appealing. I can't stand the thought of graphic sex being brought into Stargate. This isnt Stargate anymore and isnt a show I would sit down and watch with my family. There is nothing new or original about SGU, its just full of cheap tricks copying every other "dark" show out there but with nothing new or fresh about it. Whats realistic about a geek being tranported onto a space ship because he can solve a puzzle. We have all the cliched characters thrown in to make up the forced drama and lets not forget about the sex and having sex straight off the bat seemingly lends to the realism. Dark angsty characters, with sex and forced humor thrown in. Gah!!

I would just watch it and judge for yourself if its something you want to see rather than dismissing it out of hand.

The humor isn't forced at all and hopefully there won't be too much sex and there will be repercussions from that little encounter we saw with Scott and the woman in the beginning.

It's not a completely dark show - at least from the first two plus hours I've seen.

The body swapping thing and the contemporary music are what I really, REALLY don't like. Everyhing else I either like or can tolerate.

I'll be primarily watching for the guest stars (it remains to be seen if Eli and Rush can keep me interested) and after that, we'll have to see where the story leads and if I want to follow.

Shippy mojo took a beating *sigh* Not that I didn't expect him to have one of Sara and Charlie...it makes sense...I just wanted it to be of Sam

*sighs* Thank you though!

Well, there are a multitude of other photos that the camera barely picked up and who was in them wasn't visible. So I'm still holding out hope that Sam will be in one of them.

They can't possibly be worried about how it will look regarding the regs because they've already got two members of the military having sex in a storage closet in the first part and another set who have had an affair.

I don't find it surprising that Jack would have a picture of Charlie in his office. But I am surprised if he has a picture of Sara there as well. After all, he and Sara have been divorced for more than 10 years. Surely he must have plenty of photos of Charlie by himself that he could have in his office instead of one with Sara and Charlie. Even though he and Sam are together (note I didn't say "if" :)), he may not want to have everybody know it, so perhaps he keeps a photo of her in a little side drawer that he looks at all the time.

It's those darn props people doing strange things there without stopping to think about what it's going to look like to us fans. :)

Thanks for the review. As for Sara and Charlie's pic on Jack's desk and no pic of Sam - just another "frak you" to SJ shippers from TPTB as they have done in the last couple of years

I was a bit disappointed myself since that 8x10 of Sara and Charlie is the only pic on that side of the cupboard (for lack of a better term) behind him. There are a bunch of other pics on the other side in a much more cramped space but it does concern me that the ex-wife gets a prominent display.

Maybe everything will be explained in the SG-1 movie?

The SG-1 movie is supposed to be set before SGU so maybe he gets back together with Sara in the movie - wouldn't put it past TPTB after what they've done to shippers over the alst years

I don't think that will happen at all.

Interesting read. Sounds like the pilot will be enjoyable. And for the record it doesn't seem too spoily. I'm hearing different scene but I have no idea what the plot will be
